I wouldn't, this site is using a free doamin name .co.cc, and steals off of http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ own proxy service and masks it as it's own.

You aren't wrong. But you may know if you type and remember a long and very boring url, then you can simply use the another short & simple url forwarding above to transform the long url to an amazingly short url using that tool. However, the true and long url not help user or client to use this tool efficiently. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ just simple the real long url. If you wouldn't, you can use the "real url" to access it. Edited by Marcella (see edit history)

There are many pieces of software for automating the switch from proxy server to proxy server, including an add-on for FireFox - that's not where the shortage is.The problem I have always had was to come up with a list of good, freshly tested, high-performance, highly anonymous, public proxy servers. That's because those lists you find at freeproxy dot whatever are already obsolete by the time you get to them.

they are called anonymizers.i use them all the time, i mainly use proxydom.comanother site that has a list of heaps and u can choose which one you want to surf with is aplusproxy.comif only they worked at school, the "smart filter" blocks anonymisers.

Those websites do help to keep your identity anonymous. However that's from the website and after filtering, it is somehow slow in the speed. There's another way of hiding your identity by using software as what dserban mentioned.

Found some links to a list of those proxy server. Tried some and they are in working condition.

A software to recommend would be proxyway.

We all know that Google is more than a search engine; we do use it as provider for email, mapping, news and many other services. Google is now also a free proxy service. Proxy is a device that stands between a PC and the internet, providing all the connections to the world wide web.

What a proxy does is to receive all data from a requested site, so when you access web pages all data come from proxy.

What's the purpose for Google as a proxy? We often use office/school/university connections, usually those services are set to provide more safety, blocking the access to undesidered web sites (the "black list"). What you can do now is use Google translator service (language tools) as a proxy to bypass the restrictions set for our connection!

You just need to type the following URL:
https://translate.google.com/| en&u=http://www.forbiddensite.com/

(http://www.forbiddensite.com/ stands for the URL you need to go to...)

What you'll get is the translation (english to english!) of the page you want to see... your connection is directed to a google.com page so this page won't be blocked (would be blocked only with google.com on the black list), no matter what's the content.

Notice that the URL has been a little hacked because the parameter "langpair" (1) is set to "en|en" (english/english) so the page is processed by Google but
you can keep the original language of the page (no need to translate!). If you need another language (e.g. french) you just need to set the parameter langpair to "fr|fr" and you'll be able to read french
pages in french!

A couple of examples:
english... https://translate.google.com/

italian (my own homepage!)... https://translate.google.com/|
it&u=http://www.bigthistle.altervista.org/

Last but not least: if you use this trick, you're not sure to protect your privacy, this kind of connection lets you see blacklisted pages but doesn't hide your IP address. Just go to https://translate.google.com/ to see your IP is not hidden...

That's all, bye.

There's no way this will speed up your internet access. First of all, your download and upload speeds are limited by your ISP and it's impossible to get faster. Most proxy servers available are slow (because a lot of users are using it and are congesting the line).Anonymity is doubtfull too, you don't know who owns the server and you don't know what the intentions of the owner are. Plus, not every server offers full anonymity, there are three kinds, transparent, anonymous and full anonymous (just google, I'm too lazy to explain the difference  ).Freedom on the other hand is a fact, proxy server abroad can allow you to visit sites that aren't available for every country.
