dserban 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2007 This is an article from a guy with an obviously very inquisitive mind who isn't afraid to dive deep into the registry and uncover funny / scary internals.http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/A couple of things caught my attention:- less drive thrashing. Huh? What does this say about Vista to a person who has never used it? Do you mean to tell me that a vanilla installation of Vista is grinding away at your hard drive by default?- the new option to create a recovery disk. This isnât the same thing as creating a backup of the system to DVD - instead this process creates a recovery DVD which you can use with system recovery options if you donât have an original Windows DVD or you canât access OEM recovery tools.- SUA (Subsystem for UNIX Applications) - Microsoft's response to cygwin?- After you resume the computer from hibernation, the computer loses its default gateway address? Nice job.
Grafitti 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2007 Yes I have noticed the hard drive thrash problem especially right after coming out of sleep or hibernation. It's so damn irritating.
xboxrulz1405241485 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2007 Well, I hope that this SP1 actually fixes a lot of things wrong Vista has created. The system is buggy as hell, and causes several memory leaks.xboxrulz
HellFire121 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2007 Hopefully it fixes most of the compatibility issues that are from a hardware cause and performance issues related to directx and new generation graphics cards.Just from this early changelog of SP1, it still isn't enough to convince me to buy vista just yet. I'll probably wait untill SP2 or even SP3 depending on the way things go.-HellFire
