Carsten 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2005 Saving is the same as downloading which is the same as viewing, so no, there is no way to do that. However, you could restrict access to your mp3 files with a download script.
Vacant 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2005 Just to back up what carsten said... No, you cant avoid people saving your pages. You could password-protect things so that only certain people have access, tats all I can think of but it doesn't really have the same effect, does it?- Vacant. Inspiron 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 hey dude...There are ways to do with your pages...Encrypt them.. with Javascript...Visitors will see your site as rubbish but javascript will render your codes on HTML format...So your sources are protected...Try these : http://www.protware.com/https://www.atompark.com/http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://designerwiz.com/http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://www.share2.com/htmlencr/http://www.mtopsoft.com/Most of them are paidwares...You can still encrypt your HTML files but with the trial company logo..These are real tools pal..I have friends copying my stuffs too and I used them..These links are my secrets and I've release them to you...Good luck in encrypting your sites... Dragonfly 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Even though you may protect the source but if one really wanted to copy your site you can't stop him.. even if you source code is made like rubbish using these programs as Inspiron has listed, still they can make it. What you can do is copyright your design and layout and if someone copies it - you can sue them. Sometime ago my site too was copied, I have nothing to complaint. Rather I was happy that they copied and some source code was left with them about my COMMENT and others.. But if that guy is using your bandwidth, just tell him not to use it and to take it down. OpaQue 15 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 stopping people from saving your web page is not recommended. This blocks search engines from reading your text and so the possibility of getting indexed. But if you still want to do it, I recommend use FLASH. Create a 800x600 flash file and put all the text in it in a scroll box. disable, text copying in it.And password protect the file. The reason for using flash file is because it really saves hell lot of space.
Spectre 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 The short answer: No, it's not possible. The relatively long answer: The web browser that your visitors are using obviously has to be able to read the source of your pages in order to display them. So even if it is encrypted or obfuscated, it would be with a relatively simple algorithm that could be reversed almost instantly. Therefore, the determined user will be able to view your HTML code, regardless of what you do with it. A lot of people try things like disabling right-click or placing a large number of blank lines at the top of their document to try and confuse the user; but really, these things amount to nothing. As has been suggested, there are ways of 'encrypting' your code using weak algorithms; but as has also been noted, search engines such as Google are unable to read JavaScript, so will not add your site to their index. However, this doesn't matter to some people, so if you don't mind not being listed in the major search engines, then you might consider looking into such methods. Although, as I've said, it won't throw the determined user off entirely, it will make things slightly more difficult for them.
whyme 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 I suggest that you go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and inform the people there, they are a community that hunts down people who steal layouts from other people. They'll help you find a way to get rid of that person. And Oh, just for kicks, if he happens to be using up your images for his own site, simply replace the image that he's using with a picture say: "stop stealing!" . More specs on that -> http://vault.simplebits.com/notebook/2005/04/05/siphoning/Hope you get that ripper soon,-whyme
