mtnbluet 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2007 Beware of what people of all ages are building with them. Some come in kits and others are created and displayed only from the author's imagination. One type of kit that is catching on fast is the Mindstorm kit. Why? These kits allow the builder to make a robot with the Robotics Invention System 2.0 that allows one to program a robot to go around corners and detect intruders using light sensitivity. Even the Earl of Wessex received a Lego Robot from the participants all vying for the Duke of Edinburgh's International Youth Award in Luxembourg. Then there are the Lego machines that are fully functional. Go to the Top Ten Coolest Lego Gadgets to see some examples. A Simon memory machine and a music machine that uses colors to tell it what sound to play all both made from Mindstorms. There is a working vending machine, a pinball machine, and a robot that plays Connect Four. Take the wild wild west to your office, when you need a break, with a rapid fire rubberband gun---better check with your superiors first so they don't think its a gun! Some impressive action Lego machines are a Rocket Launcher, a Crossbow and a CD thrower. There is even an action packed video of the Lego Crossbow. See more professional Lego items at the Top Ten Strangest Lego Creations. The most original and artistic one is a sculpture of a man in Hans Solo in Carbonite. A lifesize replica of the Blue Volvo XC90 and a working latest model of the Carriers air conditioner, also blue as well do look the most professional, but then the Harpsicord, Pinball machine with its four legs and the working knitting machine all are runners up for the 2nd spot. Finally there is gMac computer made from a Macintosh LC 475 , a NES case, a Mathematical Difference engine, even a Pinhole camera and a working USB drive. Multiple Lego computer cases are a hobby of Dorian. Let's not forget the Lego Exclusive projects that cost $299. Death Star II and Imperial Star Destroyer look like masterpieces. Lately Lego gadget holders are even being made. See a Nintendo DS charging dock that has room for about 7 games and 3 stylus. Another person built a white Lego handheld holder that has pockets for a 8525, DS lite and his iPod. What gadget can you think of making? Buyer beware! You might turn into a Lego fanatic too!
