Best Host (free) To Host Audio, video And Image Files.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone i would like to host audio, video and image files, can anyone give me a suggestion which are the good host for media files,I think i would face storage problem if i host them at Xisto.it should be like when i host my site at asta and place my whole site here and host the media file somewhere else.It should be like the users can play the videos on my site but they dont know that it exists on some other host or anywhere else except the site.Any suggestion for a good free host or a cheap one :) .

Your best bet would be to go to filefront.com unlimited space and allow up to 1gb files. I been with almost 2 years haven't failed me yet. Best part it makes megaupload look pathetic.Only downside is sometimes its takes forever to upload or download, but that would depend what time you download or which server you download it from. Usually I go somewhere in the middle to download files.

Putfile.com is rather nice also, not only you download files and obtain the codes for forums or for your html sites, but you also organize them in albums, on your page putfile.com/yourname are displayed thumbnails on which you click to see the image or the film you uploaded. It's a nice alternative to Xisto, unfortunately only for images and movies.

I guess the ones mentioned were nice and they have their qualities. I guess you can also try fileshack if you aren't satisfied with the above two as it has very good space and a fairly fast uploading speed.

i have always liked to support the xisto family and i would suggest imagefilez. its only got a 5mb limit, which is fine for smaller files. for larger files, im with saint-michael and suggest filefront

ImageFilez - ImageFilez

FileFront - http://www.gamefront.com/

there are always heaps of others and a good google search will turn up a heap of good places to go!

good luck

I think, all those above mentioned sites, is only for file sharing by uploading them to server and giving download links to user!

Hot linking is not supported in those sites!

The users need to go to the site and wait till the counter reaches 0 ;)

and they need to click the download link!

But "richie" is asking for the server, where we can upload files like image, audio or video, wat ever it is, and we can simply embed them in to our websites!

like, <img src="http://remotesite.com/imageurl>

Many of those free file uploading sites wont support direct linking for video or audio files!

Try to use http://www.tripod.lycos.com/ and upload your files there. they will allow hot linking of media files ( but with some bandwidth limitations ;) )

Many of the free web hosting sites, wont support hot linking of files which is having a size greater than 100 kb or 250 kb etc

I have to say that I would probably suggest using filefront, as they seem to do a really nice job with the files....However, as has been mentioned they don't allow hotlinking of files, so they would be for download purposes only (i.e. you have a downloads section on your site, and would like to allow users to download files). The downside to using these services, is that it takes a lot of work for your sites visitors to go to these sites and wait for the counter to reach 0 so that they can click on a link, view more ads, yet again wait, and finally be able to download the file.

You can tell whether or not a link is a hot link by right-clicking on it, selecting "Save Target As ..." and looking at the file name it's placing in the subsequent dialog box by default.
Suppose the link is something along the lines of:
http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
If the name it's trying to save it under is file.pdf, and you download it and you can look at it in Acrobat Reader, that link is a hot link.

The best example of a link that looks deceivingly like a hot link but isn't one is a RapidShare link.
Behind an URL like http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ there is actually a server side script (probably written in PHP) that makes you jump through several more hoops before finally revealing to you - and redirecting your browser to - the real location of the file.

uploadingit.com (http://speedsmart.net/ ) allows hotlinking without problem.I'm not really sure I know what hotlinking is, but they title page says "hotlinking allowed", and they give you the codes to insert into your html pages or the bbcode for your forum.

I received this e-mail some days ago from these guys:

Dear User,
UploadingIT.com needs your help. We have fallen on some hard times. As most of you probably have your self.

Due to the lack of ad clicks by users, yahoo has decided not to continue providing ads for the site. I have added another advertiser onto the site, but the pay out is no where near what yahoo ads were. So due to this we may not be able to continue if we are unable to pay the bills for the month of September. We should be ok if we can make it through September.

We need your help. We are going to have to raise $1500 by the 24th of September, or we may not be able to keep the site up because of us not being able to get enough clicks off ads.

If we could get 1500 of the almost 70,000 registered users to donate just $1 and we would be ok. And if you donate any amount we will give you a extra 5GB of storage space.

For now I have changes somethings to save money, such as a 2GB daily bandwidth limit. If you paid for a upgrade this does not effect you.

To donate go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Any amount helps.

Thank You for your continued support.

If you have any questions reply to this email or go to our forum at http://speedsmart.net/index.php?topmsg3816%23msg3816

Thank You for your continued support.

I for one won't be making any donations, from what I can tell by looking at the forums, the guy running this site is pretty abusive towards users.
