Religious Reference Overviews of some of the most popular world religions

If you ever want to have a look back for information or reference purposes on the different religions, have a peek at this topic, which will tell you in basic some information about the following religions in no particular order;

Hinduism/Judaism/Christianity/Islam/Buddhism/Sikhism

 

The followers of Hinduism are called Hindus. Hinduism has many founders, and it cannot be wholely decided who founded the religion, although there is some evidence to suggest it it the oldest world religion ever! Followers of Hinduism, worship at a Mandir, and some of the Hindu Holy Books are called, the Vedas and Gita. Hinduism was founded in India and is sometimes dated back to the 15th century BC, but dates cannot be entirely accurate.

 

The followers of Islam are called Muslims. Islam was founded by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). The main religious holy book in Islam is called the Koran (other spellings). Muslims worship at a Mosque. Islam was founded in Saudi Arabia. It dates back to approximately 622 AD.

 

The followers of Buddhism are called Buddhists. Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama(other spellings) in the common day India/Nepal region. Buddhists worship at a Pagoda or Stupa (other places of worship). Buddhism is estimated to date back to approximately 550 AD. The Three Baskets are the Buddhist Holy Scriptures.

 

The followers of Christianity are known as Christians (variety of different sections, Catholicism, Protestantism etc). The founder of Christianity is called Jesus Christ and founded the religion around 27 AD, in the regions of Israel. The Holy Book of Christianity is known as the Bible. Christians worship at a Church.

 

The followers of Sikhism are known as Sikhs. The founder of Sikhism is called Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Sikhs worship at a Gurdwara. Sikhism was founded in Northern India, Modern Day Pakistan. It was founded around the time of 1500AD. The Holy Book in Sikhism is known as Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

 

The followers of Judaism are known as Jews. The founder of Judaism is called Moses. Jews worship at a Synagogue. Judaism was founded in the 13th Century BC, in Israel. The Holy Book(s) in Judaism are known as the Torah Scrolls.

 

It may be a basic overview but I hope it helps.
