m107 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 Let's start by installing apache (http server) . you can download theapache installer on http://www.apache.org/ . download the verion you like ,even thought , in win systems i recomand verion 2 (this tutorials isfor apache 2) . here is a link for it :http://www.nedlinux.nl/404.phpfor a faster mirror , visit http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi .After downloading the file (.msi installer) , run it . The installation wizardis a next , next , finish 'work' ... The installer will ask you some details likeyour server name , your server adress and the admin's mail adress . ifyou have a domain name or a hostname , enter the info's like this :Server Name : your_domain.orgServer Adress : http://namefind.com/Admin Email : admin@yourdomain.orgif you don't have one , you should get on e free at :http://www.noip.com/Check the 'Run as a service for all users on port 8080' option and clicknext , finish to fiinish the instllation . It is easy to install and run! All in just one click! And the main thing is its absalutely FREE!! Just try It and you can feel the difference! Vyoma 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2006 Yes, installing of XAMPP would be definetly easier. I am not sure though if it is production worthy. I am not sure - so people, correct me if I am wrong - but I thought I read it some where that XAMPP was intended for testing environment only and they recommend us not to use if for actual live server that would be accessed by the public.
