Well if you're not exactly looking for ".com" or ".net", you could use ".cjb.net".It's got some banners attached to it though...Just depends on what you prefer. I personally use cjb.net for my website. It's handy to make my url memorable. Kinda catchy, actually.

Are you looking to purchase a domain? Or are you looking for a sub-domain redirection service?

If you want to purchase a domain - a large chunk of people i know have used godaddy.com as their preferred domain registrar.

If you rather have a shorter URL then, I'd recommend ne1.net

They offer 2 domains - ne1.net and r8.org so you get a link to your site as: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

I like this provider because you don't need to put up any link or ad and neither do they have any advertising popups, pop-unders, banners etc. Totally clean interface.

Since you obviously don't mind posting, I would sugges using http://www.findingresult.com/?dn=hostbidder.com&pid=9POR3TG0A. The forum has a similar concept to Xisto, and gives you point for posting (of course, the crediting system isn't as good as here).

In order to get a domain for one year, you need approx. a bit more than 100 posts. It allows you to point the domain name to Xisto's nameservers, so you can park it here. After one year, you can renew the domain name by collecting the required number of points.

Of course, if you don't want to post, https://de.godaddy.com/ is one of the best services and I am using it myself. I higly recommend it - my domain was active 5 minutes after I paid for it (MasterCard).

I would suggest co.nr .. >>LINK<< ... its small better and easier to configure .. the only draw back is a small link back picture to co.nr .. but i guess its all worth it at the end for this great service ..

Dhanesh.

once he gets his domain where does he point his servers to. are they going to be ns1.trap17.com and ns2.trap.com or are they going to be something else

No unless he's hosted at Trap, if he's hosted here, he'll just use Asta's name servers. Or he'll have his domain mask the URL.

I prefer godaddy.com. They are very inexpensive and offer a bunch of free services which many registrars charge a lot of money for. I moved all of my domain names there. vujsa

yeah, you'd point your domain to ns1.astahost.com and ns2.astahost.com.

Umm ignore that I figured it out with the "parked domain" thing.

the problem is whenever i type my domain name in, it redirects me to http://www.w3.org/Protocols/

any one know why?

I have never encountered this error, but can take a wild guess.1) The nameservers data you entered is incorrect2) You have to wait some time for the nameserver changes to take effect - it usually takes up to 48 hours
