Windows Media Player Opening Externally

I have the HTML code to open Windows Media Player in my website, but I would like to open it externally using the actual WM player. Does anyone know how to do this? I've yet to find the answer...

You could just put it as a link to the file, and then have the user download it.

like that, just a simple hyperlink will make any browser auto downlad the file to view it

sammaye, you have to put any code, including HTML, in code tags ()

should the hyperlink include the address of the file that was uploaded to the server or the file that is saved on my computer?

it should be the file thats put on the server. for an example address I would put

A href="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;

so my whole code for the hyperlink would look something like this

<p><a href="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ here</a></p>

once the user clicks on this link it will download your sound file straight from the web server and should open (maybe needs open to be pressed on the download dialoge) window media player, connect to the media and play....

well you can do the direct link like sammaye whas doing.....u could also stream the musci file for ur site.....it makes it so u canuse mp3 files -Mistikpso-

Well I tried your methods and they don't seem to work...I'm currently an Angelfire method, does anyone know if there are limitations on Angelfire that would prevent opening the WM Player from opening? Again WMP can open in my website but I would like it to open externally. Am I stupid?

lol, everything..you cant even open a image externally on angel fire......so might as well give up with angel fire to be honest with you, you will et nothing but head aces lol. i would rate angelfire about a 1 out of 10 for service....trust me it is bad

Angelfire's the only thing I've ever been on, I know it's time for a change, I like the webshell setup it has but again I've never seen anything else to compare it to.... so I guess thats a negative then to my previous questions...

Ok another question, so I'm trying to open windows externally. I took all of your advice from yesterday and I tried to post the code but it wont work.

Hey elevenmil,there are afew methods in doing so...1) Using HTML, as what sammaye has been helping you. e.g. <a href="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; target="_bland">click here</a>2) Using Javascript e.g. <a onclick="javascript:window.open("http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;);">click here</a>3) Use embeded players instead e.g. <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" src="MyMedia.asx" width="320" height="240" autostart="1" showcontrols="0"></embed> Hope that helps

It should be possible working on those codes.Try downloading your webpages to your computer and open your movie links locally.If it works, AngleFire can be concluded not supporting video streaming.
