I used to use this AJAX powered one, but I seem to have forgotten what it was...If someone could find some AJAX powered and remotely hosted shoutboxes then that would be awsome!

As stated on here there's all kinds of free shoutboxes available on the net. I found one called tagbox that fit my needs. It's simple and doesn't really take much to implement.It depends on what you really need. I would advise you searching through some of the links here and decide what fits your needs. If you really want practice with php/ajax or something I would definately recommend writing your own. You'll get a lot more out of it, and learn a lot more than implementing someone else's code.

You should definately learn to make your OWN shoutbox. It is quite easy actually. Go to W3Schools and learn some PHP and MySQL. Then you will create a MySQL database with a table called "shoutbox". I am still working on mine and it is rolling along quite nicely.

Give it a try! It may not be feature-rich, but you will learn something.

right here we go my fav coming right at you zoho.com just make one acount and sign in to zoho chat and click the shoutbox button you will get design prefrences and code to implement after the design prefrences hope this helps

my favorite shoutbox is http://www.chatboxpro.com/

its very easy to use, easy to customize also has pre made themes and I have never had any downtime with them.

I have one on a blog and one on a website, the one on my website is a static shoutbox meaning I have set it up as a message box. I made it so people cant comment on it I just use it to put news and updates which is very handy.

there are heaps out there though.
