Windows Crashes Whenever I Load Games? huh?

Recommended Posts

Well, usually I won't talk about Windows, because it is truly a crappy OS, IMHO. Well, here's my problem, whenever I load any games on a freshly installed version of Windows XP, or Windows 2000 SP4, I run the game for a while, then it randomly crashes! This is the 100th time!

System Specs (Detailed):ASUS P4B533-VM Mobo
Intel Pentium 4 2533 MHZ (2.53 GHZ)
120 GB Maxtor HDD 7200 RPM w/ 8 MB CACHE
80 GB WD HDD 7200 RPM w/ 8 MB CACHE
256 MB RAM (Samsung) PC 2100 DDR 226, 256 MB RAM (Ultra) PC 2100 DDR 226
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT w/ 128 MB RAM, AGP 8x (recent upgrade from GeForce 4200 Ti w/ AGP 8x, 128 MB RAM)
SuSE Linux 9.3 (Main OS, 2.6.11.4-21.7-default)
Windows XP (Game OS, NT 5.1)
6 USB 1.1 and 2 USB 2.0 ports
DVD/CD-RW
CD-RW

Thanks in advance,

No error messages (that's why I hate Windows, it doesn't tell you about any error when it crashes), the crash type is hanging. These are the hypothesis:NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT has a memory problem (low, since it works properly in Linux)512 MB RAM has problems (yet low since it works perfectly in Linux)Driver problem (probably)xboxrulz

Most likely cause: driver issue. What chip set is on your motherboard? Intel, VIA, or nVid? If it's VIA, I can almost garuntee you what the issue is (VIA chipset on the motherboard). IF that is the case, only one solution: get a different motherboard.
