Proxy Escapades The escapades we had with proxies.

Recommended Posts

Hi All,This is a post to tell of a story that has taken place over a fairly long space of time.Trekkie101 (a global moderator on these forums) is a network administrator on a network, and he is also a network user on the same WAN from a different building (LAN within WAN (I think, lol )). So he got the administrator's password and he also found out what the proxy address was for the network he administrated. So, we inputted that address into the proxy settings of our web browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer) and we were able to access downloads and some other things which had previously been blocked! :lol:However, it seemed to block more webpages, so we came up with the idea that:If you need to view a webpage that might be blocked, you use the official proxy and if you need to download, you use the unofficial one (although this does not work in all examples). Also, when we print something, an IP look-alike address (probably is actually a proxy address) is displayed in the printer selection box. So this address was entered into the browser's address bar and we got some network admin information page. It told you stuff you could do and offered some login pages (we cannot access them). So, those were our escapades, and great fun they were too!
