Cross Platform With Os X KDE/GNU or some Linux

hi, guru out there...i'm just wondering, is there anybody have a good experience on cross platform with OS X.. like darwin port or fink user.. to Linux or unix application... i have no idea where to find those stuffs... i found those on apple download... eager to learn but dont know how to start ... just show me the path pls... thksmean time i was exploring on net about this...

and one more need to know quick... where can i find X11 for download?? Gamp needed to run with X11... plssss

You can get X11 from Apple's download page or on a retail box Tiger DVD (dunno about prior versions as I don't have retail box discs for them handy).Gimp.app works extremely well, and most fink ports also work with relatively few problems. Sometimes the code is a little slow (you are essentially running two windowing environments, plus most of this stuff is ported from x86 - part of why I'm personally looking forward to the x86 Macs) but usually it's great. FinkCommander comes in the Fink download package, and it's a piece of cake if you're familiar with UNIX and BSD.Now, you won't have the most Mac like experience, but I really like it - it gives me the best of both worlds.

for other Linux app, just compile it normally. Just run ./configure on your sourcecode and it should compile as long as you have gcc.Mac OS X is UNIX practically, therefore Linux apps should work.xboxrulz

Ubuntu LiveCD is a way to try Linux on your mac without installing it. It runs off the cd.

Check it out, right now, they are offering free cds and they pay for the shipping!

If you're in a hurry, just download it.

There are many places to find alternative operating systems for your mac.
