sunny152 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 I wan't to buy a powerful processor laptop amd my requirement speed is above 3 Ghz and recently Intel released new centrino processor in place of previous Mobile pentium4 with HT technology.so which processor is ideal for getting above 3 Ghz speed.Waiting for your reply,sunny. Casanova1405241497 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 Yep Centrino has Larger cache than P-4 So its a bit fast that Pentium 4 ..!Centrino will reduce the form factor of Intel-based laptops, making them more portable and lightweight. Not only will the size of laptops be reduced, but the battery power that they consume for a given level of performance will also decrease significantly. Pentium centrino chips will be starting out at clock speeds lower than the currently available speeds of Pentium 4 chips, but the efficiency (especially with regard to battery life) will be greater.Also the cache is 1mb As compared to 512 kb of p 4So in plain words A centrino 1.6ghz is better than Pentium-4 2.4ghz Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

If you listen to the commercials, it will say that: This laptop features centrino mobile technology not a processor. anyways, the processor in the centrino package would be better than the P4 by a long shot. BigmanB 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Centrinos are for basic one program operating comptuers that will run programs like office and surf the internet on a daily routine. Pentium4s are for games and multipule programs running at once. Pentium4 will be way faster and will not heat up your computer as much as a Centrino. As so i heard.
