miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2005 VBScript happens to be an offshoot of the Visual Basic language - created by Microsoft as a reply to the JavaScript onslaught. It never really caught on so much, due to a whole lot of limitations and OS dependence. But VBScript allowed you to embed a whole lot of Windows Forms & ActiveX Controls on your web-page - the same kind of controls that you would normally use while designing a form in Visual Studio. Yup, you do need a Windows Server Machine with IIS (Internet Information Server) running on it, to be able to server pages written with VBScript. Here are some resource & tutorial sites to get you started:1. http://www.visualbasicscript.com/2. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/3. http://www.cybermetrics.com/Support/CustomptResources.htm4. https://www.mjtnet.com/resources.htm5. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/6. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/7. https://web.iem.technion.ac.il/en/8. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/Hope these help Cheers
FirefoxRocks 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2007 Also, I should add that VBScript only executes in Internet Explorer. So if you want something to execute in Internet Explorer only, I suggest you use VBScript.
vizskywalker 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2007 Also, I should add that VBScript only executes in Internet Explorer. So if you want something to execute in Internet Explorer only, I suggest you use VBScript. smile.gifI believe that there was some work at one point on making VBScript run in other browsers. I'm not sure how far it got, because I never used VBScript, but I think it made enough progress that there were some plugins or things or modified versions of some smaller browsers that could run it. I think the newest Netscapes can run it as well, if you put them to render things as IE. But most of that work was when VBScript started entering its death throes.~Viz
