darkool 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 The successor of Windows XP goes to be able to be executed in pc's with little resources. At least he is what he guarantees the Microsoft. The operative system Longhorn must have a special version for the computers oldest. In accordance with the site Cnet, the company of Bill Gates admitted that nor all the resources of the Longhorn will go to function in a less powerful computer. To be able to execute the new system a processor of 3GHz with 512 MB of memory will be necessary. Exactly thus, who will have an inferior PC will be able to usufruct in a "classic way". "to run" this "version" of the Longhorn 128 MB of memory are enough. This way would be very similar to current Windows XP. The Longhorn will have to disponibilizar, at least, four levels of graphical interfaces. The Microsoft still did not specify what she will be necessary to execute each one of them. The possible names of the interfaces, beyond the classic way, would be: "Aero" and "Aero Glass" (made for the user most demanding in relation the graphical part. Another way would be of You the Go bred specifically for portable computers.

Neverseen 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 I don't see a reason to upgrade to longhorn since longhorn is really only for high end business users and servers with some graphics - not really a home OS yet - not for another 4 years.....
redsox58 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2005 It seems to me that longhorn is just going to the drain. They were supposed to have a new file system but they canned that. Now with all these setbacks and monsterous system specs. things aren't looking good. It will be XP with some eye candy. Which is very dissapointing might I add. Microsoft it seems is starting to loose it. Linux and Apple are gaining on them.
