LOL.. old systems make great decorations..ive just butchered a recently deceased system, and made a kick *bottom* key-ring.its made out of a Pentium2 266mhz chip, a BIOS chip, and a single 4mb SDRAM DIMM chip, and an AGP1 controller (minus th heat sink).All chips removed from the circuit board, and a nice hole drilled.those ran ships are brittle ! took 6 minutes to drill one without it snappingIm such a nerd its unbelievable.

Holy ****...3 gb of RAM?  Is that even possible lol?  Most have like around 2 gb, and 1 gig is about all you could ever need for today's games and programs (unless you love having photoshop, 3ds max, and other resource hogging programs open at the same time :))

I have a 3 ghz processor

15 inch LCD monitor

5.1 sound system (which kicks *bottom*, btw :))

512 MB RAM

120 gb harddrive (full...only around a gig free lol I really need to uninstall some stuff)

and a horrible Geforce fx 5200 128 mb.  Ouch...I need to upgrade my vid card :)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yeah... it is possible, here are my specs for my new computer

3.4 intel pentium 4 EE

4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533 MHz

3x74 GB Western Digital Raptors (if you dont know those are 10,000 rpm)

256 PCI-E x16 eVGA geforce 6800 ultra

Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS w/ Dolby 7.1

P.S. i have seen mobos that are 16GB compatible

why are people so surprised at 3 gig of ram ?

for most desktop machines anything more than 512 meg is a waste for most computer users. (or anything more than 1 to 1.5 gig for the kids games)

but servers often have quite alot of ram, just look at the system specs of the linux server kernel.org http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/.

Ram = 24 Gigs.
Disk = 10 Terrabytes.
CPU = 4x AMD64 Opteron.
Ethernet = 2 seperate gigabit connections.

now THATS a machine to druel over.
