harriko 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2005 i have just starting betting in the bookies, and found out a whole new knowledge and experiance. winning makes you fell good and want to bet more to get more, or losing it makes you want to win it back. but heres the question. how do you stop these bets? nothing seems to stop you from doing it. maybe its in our human nature to be greedy and feel good. is there a limit to feel good in betting? or do you always end up crying when you lose it all. knowledge is most important in betting (i think) to work out the odds they are based on pass experiences. but if it wins all the time it doesnt mean it will win in the future will it. probably all betters, wastes their money on these "odds", how do you know if they were made up? made up for you to lose?canceling out all the odds and stuff in the betting industry, you might be only betting on something only on luck. but is luck true? or isit just probability again? so if your betting on luck, why are you betting again and again? maybe luck is just a gimmick for you to bet...what do you think? how would you stop in this betting "trap"? Everything is psychology. That is why at casinos the sound of someone winning is really loud, while the sound of losing is silence. It makes it seem as if winning was constant when really the house is making a killing. The way to stop is to JUST STOP. Give up. There is no secret formula. If there was, someone would have found it years ago, and the rules changed to handle it. You may think you have found a secret, but you haven't. This is psychology again. The human mind strives to make connections between these things. It sees patterns where there are none sometimes. ESPECIALLY in random data, like games of chance. Simple rule for betting: IF you keep playing, you lose. The house WILL always win. Second rule: the only way to win at betting is to not play the house. Play other people and be much better than them. If you aren't much better than them, see the first rule. If you are only a little better the nature of probability and luck will eventually clean you out. Hell, even if you ARE much better than the others, this can still happen. Third rule: NEVER BET MORE THAN YOU CAN LOSE. Actually never bet more than half that amount, cause you are probably lying to yourself. If you can't hold yourself to that, then you shouldn't play. Find a way to stay away from gambling houses.
webguide 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2005 Taking risks is part of human nature nothing can stop that. The trick is taking intelligent risks. Weak individuals find this diffecult to do, then end up calling gambling an "illness" to hide their own failings.

It is certainly a weakness on their part. However, you cannot just say, "go be strong!". It would require them to be strong to take your advice. So, the question then becomes how to 'cure' their weakness, since they can't do it totally alone. If they could they would be strong, and that would sort of defeat the whole thing. kenjvalip 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2005 How to stop gambling? Gambling is a form of vice, vice is a habit that is hard to quit. When you do it in a long time it is really hard to remove especially if you got good memories at it that make you feel good and excited. There is a way out of there, if you stop immediately it would hurt you so much you end up going back to the same habit. When you want to stop don't stop instantly, do it in a decreasing manner. This is a different way in treating vices, this is an action that has been accumulated through frequent application. It has become your lifestyle, if you plan to stop, first think of a great plan to divert your attention or be excited to something more productive. Your excitement is based on your personality. There are billions of productive hobbies in this planet you will not be able to miss them all. Also use your mind to think positive things like, "when I quit this thing I will be a better person, I will be a proud one". Choose you friends and interests, if you are just influenced it is much harder to quit because you might hurt your friends when you go away. Just think of yourself and how better you could be when you do something great. When you quit this vice it is not you that will be the only beneficiary of your action. Even the people that are close to you. If you are still dependent to parents you can save thier effort building that kind of money just to be gambled. And if you are an independent person, you could spend more money to buy foods, educational stuffs, or productive activities. And think of the value you can put in your money if you will save it. When you gamble there is roughly 10% of you winning depending on the rules of the game. It's all in the mind, train your mind. Psychology is the answer. mitchellmckain 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 Gee this seems to be turning into bettors anonymous. Well I certainly have no "fix it" advice to offer.I tried it once until I found the trick. You only stop when you lose. Which is another reason that the house always wins. Now I enjoy the cheap accomodations on my way to Los Angeles and I even enjoy the spectacle of Las Vegas, but I don't like feeling like a chump, so I don't gamble.I don't get the "losing it makes you want to win it back" Money is money and your way to get it is your career choice. I suppose if you enjoy gambling you might make such a career choice.
richierich1m 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Betting is not that bad ,but actually if you are a real learner of betting ,you will go to the deep you can and someday you would become the big guy up who makes people play bets rather than the one playing, betting is a wonderful business but for those who make others play and not betters ,never play on luck ,play on yourself ,i wont say that you cant earn without working you can but you have to use your brains and create systems rather than the one playing in it. Ally1405241517 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2007 My mum works in a casino. Remember casino never loose. Never. Heh. If you think you are lucky in a casino it isn't true. Anyway sooner or later you will lose. This day you can win some money but tommorow you will lose double of your yesterday wining. Trust me. I know how much money casino have every day =)Now about luck in wining. As all of us know people sometimes win in casino. This is like a advertisment. You hear that someone win at casino, you go and try to do it. You loose. But you also can win. If after winning you stop then you really won. If not, you are loose. And you will lose much more then won at first. Won and stop after that means really luck. (IMHO) Luck is not winning itself, luck is win and stop. And be at needed time and place. This is luck in casino. In other situations luck means be at needed place and in time (I'm repeating, sorry). And may be sometimes be more experienced then others? Some times we can think of luck but really we simly more experienced. And about bettings. If you bet and win for example 20 times. You think you are master of bettings, but it's not as you think =) Did you thought how much you lost? Try to count. Count not only this time, count all times you was in casino. Try to count truely, don't lye to self. Never forget that casino is very hard structure, people work and try to get more and more money.
beatgammit 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 Gambling is an addiction like any other. Gamers convince themselves that they can beat the odds (through a "system"), but without cheating, there is absolutely no way to beat the house. Overall, the house ALWAYS wins, or else the casinos/horse betting places/etc would go out of business. To stop betting, one must convince himself/herself that betting is not a good pursuit and that he/she cannot win the money back. They must avoid any type of betting and rely on friends to keep them honest. There are many support groups to help in this pursuit. Over time, all honest betters lose. It is a statistical truth. If you play long enough, you will lose, that's how casinos make money.
Vue 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 That is why I say...don't bet at all. No need to blabber. It's hard to deal with gambling addicts. It's easier to prevent people from becoming gambling addicts. I have known of a man who, because of gambling, stole money from a relative of mine. The man said that it was for "other issues". Hmm...gamblers are good liars too, I suppose.
