Did you upload an index.html? if you did then you should see it by typing http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ no need to type www.Your files should be uploaded to the public_html directory. They will show up in the www directory automaticly.if you type http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (newfile.html) is the name of one of your files does it show up?Goos luck. let me know if it worked?Nils

NilsC 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 give me a filename one one of the files you uploaded. I have a lot of test files in my directory because I'm experimenting. The most important is to name your home file something that is standard. Index.htm or index.html I think the other one is home.htm or home.html (Unless newfile.htm was a name of one of the files you uploaded you will get the error) ;)Nils
chris1234 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 hello nils, there are 5 files I uploaded, one of them is index.html,(the site works fine offline on my comp) thanks chris
NilsC 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 OK, index.html is the name of the welcome file. did the file get exchanged. look at the date time stamp. I still get the welcome page when accessing your site. Try one of the other files and see if it show up. just type the filename instead of index.html.Nils
deivid1405241470 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2005 maybe the index file of Xisto for some reason can't to be updated (something this happends with some files), the recomendation, delete all index files, and then upload your index.html.Or maybe you are not uploading in the folder correctly, when you log with your ftp client, put the file inside public_html folder.Besides there are some hierarchy with the extensions, if you have for example 3 index files index.html index.htm and index.php, the order is:first index.html then index.htm and index.php, in other ways .html wins always.
