Performance Test Your New Pc

Recommended Posts

Does your computer seem slow? Are you worried that you're not getting the performance that your paid for?

It's time to learn how to benchmark your computer.

Benchmark:

A standardized program (or suite of programs) that is run to measure the performance of one computer against the performance of other computers running the same program.

By installing a program by SiSoftware called Sandra, you can easily see how your computer stands up against the competition. The download site is:

A download link for Sandra is(as seen on the above mentioned dl page):

http://www.sisoftware.net/

Just download that file to your desktop, open/execute the file, choose default installation options then click the program icon for Sandra that appears on yoru desktop and/or Start Menu.

Test different components of your system by choosing them from the main program window. You can compare your results to other computers easily as well. This is useful if you have just purchased a computer with an AMD chip and wonder how it could compare to a similarly priced Intel chip.

Another interesting and very useful feature of Sandra is the ability to do a hardware inventory. I recomment printing the results of an inventory scan as it is often useful to know exactly what is under your hood.
