webguide 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2005 It is generally agreed that the best free graphics package is gimp. I know that large CGI movie companies use it plus its completely opensource and much faster then photoshop. Although the interface can be diffecult to get used to. In any case, what I think he needs is actually imageready which comes with photoshop (at least since version 7). That is what is supposed to be used for web graphics. webguide 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2005 When I say faster I mean the speed at which the application runs. Isn't imageready more for optimizing then actually creating images. Anyway my recommendation is gimp.
cobaltchloride 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 You should try gimp. Better still try a vector program e.g. any program that outputs SVG. There are lots of opensource SVG programs out there. SVG is real cool. It scales perfectly and some very cool things could be done with it.
tattoopunk 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 Imageready is not designed for creating graphics, it is not as advanced as photoshop in that area. It is designed so you can do a simple frame by frame and easily swap between imageready and photoshop to do the actuall image creation.
Space Orangutan #2 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2005 My two cents is to download some good photoshop add-ons and such. Here's some tips: Brushes: I have downloaded many brushes for photoshop. I must have like two hundred. They've helped me a lot. Most if not all come in a pack so you have a few that go well together. Actions: These can do a lot to your images. It can range from an action to make your image into a perfect black and white image to something that can change the total look of text. People make a lot of other stuff two such as Styles, Textures, Filters, and etc. to mess up an image or make it look great. Adobe has a site of it's own for this stuff. You have to sign up but it's free: Adobe Studio Exchange
