NilsC 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2005 I guess it's a way Google ranks new websites, they will have a high ranking for a couple of weeks and even if the site have a lot of hits it will start dropping lower in the ranking (Sandbox effect). Take the same webpage and put it on an old established website and see the pageranking will be higher than on the new one. Google Sandbox Don't look at the picture, read the article Nils

Silent Soul X 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2005 From what i gathered, google sandbox is a way of keeping brand new sites down the ranking in searches, to stop spam sites mostly from being right at the top. See a spam site would have numerous purchased links which would make it rank high up in searches. These spam sites would then gain heavy sales before google realises and bans them. And once that happened the spam sites would just keep on doing it quickly increasing their profits. Thats why supposedly google have released this sandbox filter to stop this from happening, so that brand new sites can't be at the top for a certain amout of time (it varies from between 1-6 months, with 4 months being the most common.) See it gradually starts wearing off much like sinking sand. You start off with it fully installed and then gradually it will be gone.
