wonbin 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2004 Okay folks, we all know we're not supposed to use P2P software to download MP3 files. But that doesn't mean we can't get some good music for free! I've been downloading MP3 files from legal sites and I found lots of great bands that I'd probably never get to know if I had just sticked to mainstream music. Here are a few sites where you can find legal MP3 files for free. No signups, no popups, just find what you want and download it:1. Subpop Records (https://www.subpop.com/) - Some bands who were/are signed by Subpop include Nirvana, Mudhoney, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and The Hellacopters. You'll be amazed at the bands you'll find here. Start by this site, download songs by The Album Leaf, The Shins, The Helio Sequence, etc. When you're done, go to the next site. 2. Epitonic (http://www.epitonic.com/) -rock, electronic, hip-hop, folk/acoustic, pop, jazz, etc. Literally thousands of songs! 3. Download.com (http://download.cnet.com/windows/?tag=dir) - lots of different music too. Good to find some bands you never heard of (and probably won't hear anywhere else). If anyone knows of any such sites where you can find lots of LEGAL MP3 files for free, post here. Please remember that we're talking about legal stuff. If the web site you'll tell us about has the newest Eminem album available for download, it's probably violating copyright laws, and we don't like that. MajesticTreeFrog 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2004 Those sites are nice, and I am glad you told me about them, but the place I go for my mp3s is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ This is a pay site, but songs are a penny a megabyte, for any format+bitrate you want with NO DRM. Also, the downloads are fast, and they have just about anything you could ever want. Finally, if you want to go REALLY underground(as in the opposite of the above site), then go to https://www.scene.org/ There are a ton of different band and demo groups on there. If you like techo(chillout), hunt around and listen to some Bliss, you won't be sorry.
coder2000 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2004 Another good site is dmusic.com. They don't have any big names because they are a sort of indie record company. But its still free music.
