ADSL problem!!!Need help

I install ADSL few days ago, and what happened is that I can connect to ICQ or download perfectly everyday, but some times I can not browse internet, and try to reboot the ADSL router will solve the problem. Is anyone know how that's happened? Is it because some P2P download and upload?

you will have to naroow it down a bit...

 

Opeerating System / version / Distro ?

Error messages ?

any kernel output ?

anything unusual in the network logs ?

is your traffic too high on other ports ?

whats your firewall rules ?

 

as much information is possible.

I've had that problem before but the browser NEVER worked while the IMs would always work, not just sometimes. I would contact your ISP. I'm sure it's something simple that they can help you with easily.

is there a proxy server you should be using for browsing the internet?

One more possibility is your dns server is going down, it happens alot to me. icq would stay connected because it has done got the resolved ip address of the server.

The reason for the guys problem is because of the traffic on the internet, so he got a DoS attack, it always happen on the internet...All you have to do, is setup a router that does not respond to brodcasts, or annyomous requests... Thats it...
