suicide1405241470 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 Hi all,I am pretty new to HTML coding but not to graphic design, and my experience with HTML is that components tend to slip and slide all over the place depending upon window size. So I decided to create the pages for my new project in CoreDraw, then use DreamWeaver/Fireworks to convert it to HTML, adding hotspots for links.I am pretty pleased with the results but I seem to have created a major problem with search engine spidering. As the pages are basically one big graphic (although now sliced with Fireworks) there is very little actual text for the robots to index. I do have META tags for keywords and the like, but I understand a correlation between the keywords and the actual text on the page is important in getting top listings. So how do I get around this requirement? I have been submitting the new pages for about 6 months now and they still don't turn up in a search. Is there a META tag I can load all the text into, or sump'n? Thanks in advance for your advice. overture 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 I dont know if you have this already but you may use this, i am not sure that it will work as you want it to: <meta name="description" content="Overture Productions - A great place to find Freeware Programs, Tutorials, Web Design."> Also a website that is made mostly of graphics is not really a good idea, you will most likely drive visitors away as it may take ages for the graphics to load. Static text should be used, not images of text you want to show. You could try putting the images with text on as a background, get rid of the text in the image and then just type the text over it, this will atleast give viewers something to look at while the pages are loading. dissipate 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2004 i agree with overture. while i was studying abroad, i had to go on a 56k dialup plan and it was horrendously slow compared to my ADSL connection at home. to make things faster, i turned off all images in my browser, meaning i'd see only text when i surfed and not images.if you can't bear to part with your all images idea though, how about placing two links on the index page, one to the all images site and the other to a text site?
