Arrgh, Fighting A Loosing Battle.

Recommended Posts

It seems my very own body conspires against me. The last few weeks have been crazy busy here, to the point where I hardly had time to eat, and when I did I mostly grabbed an apple off the tree right by the front door and scarfed it down while on the run. Needless to say, I quickly lost 5 lbs or so. And just as soon as I did my appetite went absolutly crazy! I feel like I am constantly about to starve to death. I spent a few days nearly eating the house down. Just couldn't get filled up. Ok, so much for the weight loss. It's really annoying me. I can hande minor hunger pains, but these were killer. How in the heck can I turn them off so I can loose a few pounds? Doesn't my silly body know what's good for it?

Busy work schedules shouldn't hamper your eating habits as that can put a negative effect on your work in turn. The more you will starve yourself the more weak you will become and the more your willingness to work will drop down. For the last couple of days my own appetite has also been crazy. I didn't starve myself but it seems after evening I rarely want to eat something as I feel I have already eaten too much and when I have my dinner unwillingly the outcome comes in view next morning as I vomit and I keep myself hungry next day.I am still struggling with this situation.

I would say when someone is under stress, they eat in abnormal way, but it is better to have 6 limited meals at regular intervals in a day. Just see if it works out as I had a good result following it. Most of our people lose/gain weight because of emotional eating habits and from my experience i could also say that increase in appetite is the cause of gastritis, which is the initial stage of stomach ulcer because of intial stages of starvation, in which I developed acidity and headaches leading to vomiting. One of the natural way of curing this kind of ulcer is having boiled egg soaked in rock salt for 1 hour in the empty stomach which has been effective for many people.

Have you tried speaking to a medical professional? Quite often when people try to develop a successful diet they will rely on advice of family or friends. Although sometimes they may be right, it can't hurt to find out what an actual doctor or nutrition specialist might say.An example of this is my aunt. She tried all the big diet plans like weight watchers and such, plus she tried her own methods. She never saw any lasting results from any of these methods. Eventually she went to see a nutrition specialist. The specialist did some tests and discovered what nutrients were missing from or in abundance in her body. They used this info to make a diet just for her. About four months later she hit her target body weight and has stayed there ever since. Also once she had balanced nutrient levels, her hunger levels were reduced and a stable meal pattern was established naturaly. This kind of thing is best checked by a professional if you are serious about it. ;)

Eat less, move more works for me.Also, drinking water throughout the day, and especially prior to eating a meal, tricks your stomach into thinking that you are satiated (full).I agree that the nutritional imbalances may be affecting your diet habits, too. Best to get them checked out.

Well, since I won't go to a medical doctor if I'm sick, unless I am sure my death is eminent, I'd hardly go to one for weight loss. I just get annoyed when I do drop a few pounds and then the old hunger pains kick in. I'm on a weight loosing spell again, droped about 8-10lbs since I had the trouble with my teeth. But that's only because I can't chew anything. I thought for awhile I was going to starve to death because I had so much trouble eating I'd get tired and give up eating long before I could get full. And OMG, the cravings I'm having! I could just about die for a nice big rare juicy steak right about now! Sadly, all I can chew is vienna sausages. Uck.

sheepdog,You should consider going vegetarian (that's vegan, plus dairy products). You'll not only lose weight, but you will also stop accumulating negative karma from eating animals as food. Besides, pretty much every fast food outlet has a veggie burger. Sweet Tomatoes has a rather large salad bar and you can get lots of veggies to eat while you're there. Also, you aren't going to encounter food that has a risk of bird flu, mad cow disease, or anything else of the sort when it comes to veggies. Plus, plant diseases do not affect animals (humans included) and vice versa so that's something. I think it has to do with the cellular differences between plants and animals. Raw foods, however, might pose a risk of causing an infection if they have not been cleaned well enough before consumption. Also, you might want to eat more than you usually do earlier in the day. Start off with a large breakfast, get something to eat every two hours as a snack, and have smaller meals toward the end of the day. Avoid eating food that is rich in fats more often than once a week. You will notice that although you are eating more than you normally would, you would have no weight gain and would feel more energetic through the day.If you want to shed weight and keep it off, the only way to do it is to engage in regular exercise at least four times a week that leaves you short of breath after about fifteen or twenty minutes.

If I live to be a thousand years old and don't have a single tooth in my head I will NEVER NO WAY IN HELL become a vegetarian!!!

I don't even like vegetables. To quote from my favorite commedian, "Broccille is a side dish, always has been always will be!" (that would be from my hero Dennis Leary in his comedy skit No Cure for Cancer.) I like meat. I have always liked meat. If I had to become something it would be a pure carnivor, dang sure not a vegetarian! I could eat a bushel basket full of vegetables, and still be hungry. There is no satisfaction to eating vegetables. I don't believe that eating vegetarian is healty, no matter what anyone else says. You do realize that most of the food born sickness in recent years have come from vegetables and not meat don't you? And to even mention mad cow is playing to media hype over absolutly nothing, it is virtually non existant, and to get it you would have to eat the spinal cord, so why list something like that as a health benifit to being vegan? Except of course to make going vegan sound a lot better than it really is. Puts me in mind of "global warming." All the AlGorians weeping and crying about humans causeing global warming as it gets colder and colder every year.

And yes, I tried a veggie burger. They taste like CRAP. Why even waste your breath bothering to eat somehting that tastes bad? You can't argue that it is good for you, because in fact, it is NOT.

Negative karma? Well, that's way too left field for me. But if you want to get into "beliefs" the Indians used to say a prayer to the animals spirte they killed to eat to thank the animal for giving it's life to help sustain the life of the indian who would be eating it. They certainly didn't worry about karma. So I suppose that's all just a matter of how you look at the world. I don't believe you get bad karma from being part of the cycle of life. Eating is part of staying alive, big fish eat little fish, lions eat gazelles, and the cycle of life goes on as one life ends to continue another life.

I do appreciate you bringing up the idea though, at least it gave me something I could actually write about! :D
