I have read that a christian business is one that operates under Biblical principles, so the founder of the business should be a Christian. Is it true?

Well, you wouldn't nessarily have to be, but I suspect you probably would be if you ran your business the same way you ran your life, which most people do. Christian values include things like not lying, cheating or stealing, so if you wanted to have a good business you would have to follow those principles wether you were technically a Christian or not.
