1 of the things that is seen like 1 of the biggest innovations in the area of computer parts and the upgrade of the computer is the solid state disk. A solid state disk contains different flash cards and a controller to write and read information on the flash cards. A ssd is seen like 1 of the most expensive computer parts compared to other computer parts. And an ssd is seen like improving the speed of the computer in a big way. The computer starts much faster compared to a computer with a hard disk. The computer doesn't make noise made by the hard disk anymore. And the ssd doesn't get warm. So the ssd is fast, cold and doesn't need much electricity.

The disadvantages are the price and the amount of disk space. Compared to nowadays hard disks of 500 GB, 1, 1,5 and 2 Terrybytes the averadge hard disk of 50 to 90 gigabytes is seen as pretty small. And bigger ssd's are much more expensive.

Nevertheless some people consider building an ssd in the computer is 1 of the best ways to upgrade the computer in 2010.
