But my question is where does it leave UK politics? At first the British public were outraged, but after the Daily Telegraphs onslaught the public were also clambering - for absolutely anything to read or hear about in the news - because this outrage soon turned to apathy. This apathy, so close to a general election, is a threat to political engagement in this country as well as trust in politicians.
