Leica announced their S System which was planned since early 2008 and it will be placed in the high end market under the new format which we once know, medium format, packed with a massive 35 megapixels (rounded figure) and cost USD25,000 just for the body only.

The S System despite the super steep price, it will be put in good use for portrait shots and royal functions. For instance, President Obama family pictures were taken with a Canon DSLR and a Leica M8.5 rangefinder. Cant wait to try on a demo unit of this finely made DSLR.
