How To Use Dial-up Connectivity Of Windows Xp In A Pulse Dialing System?

Recommended Posts

Many countries still use the old dial up networking for connecting to the internet. In this system, a modem attached to a computer dials to an ISP's designated number and connectivity is established. Telephone companies uses pulse and tone dialign systems. If you are using pulse dialing, Windows XP will not connect to the ISP's server when you dial to their number because XP is configured to use tone dialing by default. There are ways to byepass this by configuring dialing rules but there is an easy way.Add the letter "p" (without quotes) before the number and try dialing. Now XP will dial the number in pulse mode instead of default tone mode.Eg: If your ISP number is 172233, then dial p172233
