Fleet 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 Local HeroWritten by Samuel ThomasChapter OneKris stared at the white-washed bricks of the nearby shops as he walked along the weary wooden planks that made up the dock, back to his home. It was a bright afternoon, unusual for Elade. Normally the huge fleet of Air Ships took up the view. Today was different. They were visiting newer continents only just picked up by the fleet's radar. So the sky was actually visible. The dock groaned as Kris stepped on a weak plank. Nearby sailors and sorcerers took care in their boats. Most took long looks at Kris. He carried on walking, regardless. As he got home, he was greeted by his mother. She had that 'look' on her face."Kris! I said 2PM! What's the time now?" shouted his mother.Kris looked down at his watch. 5PM."Uhh... well, there?s a story behind that..." replied Kris, looking at his feet.Kris' mother grabbed his dirty collar. His dark brown hair fluttered around, as if a separate being.?Well, you can tell me that story when you?re finishing your chores? replied Kris? mother.?Mum!? moaned Kris. His Mum was a hard-working person. However, anything that was easy to put onto someone else?s conscience, you bet that she did it. Kris needed an excuse, and fast.?Mum! I have tons of homework, please let me put the chores off? Kris stumbled upon each and every word.?Hm? okay then.? She replied reluctantly. Kris ran past his Mother, grabbed a few books, and headed out. Oddly, his mother didn?t question why he took the books outside, or why he was running towards his best friend?s house. But Kris carried on running.* * *The warm fire inside Crest?s house gave a homely atmosphere to his abode. He was just relaxing, when there was a knock at the door. He sighed, and reluctantly trudged to the door. As he opened it, Kris? gleaming smile popped through the door.?Long time.." ?-No See?? completed Crest.Kris was completely amazed. He hadn?t seen Crest in a week, and he?d added tons to his house. The decoration was changed, but there was something new. A golden orb stood on a steel platform in the centre of the room. Could it be??Is that??? asked Kris.Crest?s huge smile explained a lot. It was, the legendary Gene Orb. One of the six in the world of The Realm. Crest stepped out of the way, and let Kris pass.?Can I see it?? he asked.Crest nodded, and operated a series of buttons and levers, and the glass case lifted off of the Orb. The result was an awesome experience. The Orb emitted various gold blasts, that ruffled Kris? hair, and then calmed down. Kris walked up to it, and stared. Suddenly, the glass came flying down, and Kris leaped back to the door.?Jeez Crest! Are you trying to kill me?!? shouted Kris.?One look. That?s all you asked for, now leave? ??Crest?? Kris said, walking towards him.?I said leave! Get out!? Crest was shouting now, his face turned a dark shade of red.Without a word, Kris backed off, and headed out the door. He ran, as fast as he could. The door slammed behind him, and he heard a lock turn just as he reached the corner of the street.?What was THAT about?? said a familiar voice. It was Val. A young girl at about sixteen years of age.?Val! Crest! He?s gone mad!? shouted Kris, between gasps.?Crest?? Val said, questioningly. ?Yeah, we need to get back in!? shouted Kris.?Calm down Kris, whatever it is, we?ll sort it?? Val was looking far off past Kris now.?Val? What is-? Kris turned around, to see the place where he?d just come from, replaced by a huge tornado. And not your ordinary wind tornado. But a golden, power hungry tornado.??Meep? said a voice. It was Robin. A long time friend of both Kris, Crest and Val. ?Robin?? mumbled Val. They were all dumbstruck by the vortex in front of them. If they didn?t do something now, Elade would be destroyed. The Air Fleet would be on it?s way any second, and Elade would be sectioned off from The Realm. Kris looked around, and noticed that everyone had come out of their tiny homes, and were all staring at this golden monster in front of them.?The Air Fleet?? said Robin.?C?mon, let?s get in there? said Kris.?Are you mad?!? replied the two. It was obviously a stupid idea, but Kris must have a plan behind it.?Possibly. But I prefer the word ?Awesome?? Kris replied, a smile growing on his face. He started dashing towards the Tornado. Everything was shaking, and he had trouble getting his grip on the terrain. But he pounded on, each step feeling like a feather. He jumped, at the last minute, and was sucked inside.?Kris!? shouted Val. Before she knew it, she was running in after him and as she jumped, she saw Crest. In the middle of the Tornado.?For god?s sake!? bellowed Robin, and stormed after the two. He leaped into the tornado, and realized something. Crest was summoning this via the power of the Gene Orb. To stop the tornado, they needed to stop Crest. But it was too late for words, as he was sucked into the core of the wind vortex.Crest was infusing with the orb. And he knew it. Kris and the others were an easy target to hang around with, and gather information. They?d gradually gathered enough information for this final tribute to the Gene Orb. He?d only managed to salvage it from a deep ocean off the coast of Elade. The past five years mounted up to this moment. He needed the Air Fleet to arrive, before the next stage of the plan would form. Three silhouettes were merging from the North side of the vortex. Whoever they were, they didn?t stand a chance against Crest?s new power. He knew for a fact that the village of Elade was hardly ever attacked, and so their Armory had been unused, and the weapons had fallen into decay. Crest started to harness a Gene Blast from the Orb. These three beings were going to be in for a surprise.?Cresht shtop!? One of the beings stumbled a few words, but they were blurred from the power. Suddenly a white blast fired through where the beings were.?Inverts. Good firepower? said one, holding a white gun.The three jumped in, and Crest recognized them immediately. It was Kris, Val & Robin. They leaped from the vortex, and Robin resealed the hole he made to get them in.?Now, stop this? demanded Val.Crest laughed. This was going to be easier then he thought.?And what if I don?t?? he replied. His hands were concealed behind his back, harnessing the Gene Blast.?Then..? stumbled Val.?Then we?ll be forced to use this.? Finished Robin, taking the Invert out.?Ha! You?re insignificant to this? shouted Crest.?And so are you? said Kris, behind Crest. He used the Alter-Invert that Robin had handed him as they sailed through the vortex. It penetrated the almost finished Gene Blast. It flew into millions of particles, and joined the vortex.?YOU!? Crest shot Kris with a Gene Particle Beam, and he fell to the floor.?Kris!? cried Val.?You?re playing with fire. Now. GET OUT!? shouted Crest.Robin dashed around the edge of the Inner-Vortex, and leaped at Crest, operating the Invert. It shot a high-powered beam into Crest, but he deflected it with a Gene Sheild.?This ends. Now.? whispered Crest, and released the vortex in one huge energy blast.Chapter TwoKris opened his eyes. They stung as he glanced around at his surroundings. The entire Village was in ruin. Bodies were everywhere. A golden haze settled on top of the ruins, and Kris sprung up. He then a thought struck his mind. What happened to his Mother? He ran towards were his house would have been, and there was nothing. Just a smoldering pile of dust.?H-hello?? he asked.Suddenly, some of the rubble started to move. A hand became visible.?Mum?? He stumbled over the rubble, until he came to the hand. He grabbed, and pulled. Gradually, more and more of the body was visible, until the head came into view. It was his Mother.?Mum!? Kris said, in between tears. As she moved her arm, he could see it was pretty badly injured.?Mum, you?re hurt? he said, pulling himself together.?Kwish? she mumbled. She moved her other arm, and brought it towards her injury. Kris stopped her, and grabbed some tissue from his pocket, and wrapped the injured arm up.?Stay here? he said.Crest looked around at Elade. Perfection. He had doubts that the Gene Blast would to maximum damage, but it did more. The blast had affected neighboring towns, as will as Elade. A smug grin grew across his face. ?You?ve outdone yourself? he thought. The citizens had been wiped out. The Air Fleet would be here at any second, and then he could create real havoc. In the distance, beyond the hazy smoke, he could see a figure rummaging through some rubble. Using his telekinesis, he brought some of the rubble from a nearby pile, and forged a staff. He then fixed the Gene Orb onto it. ?Hm, now the Gene Orb can channel it?s energy through me? he said, then realized he was alone.Val stumbled to her feet. The blast hadn?t affected her as much as Kris, and she began to run towards a hazy mist. As she got closer, she could see a golden shining orb. It was in mid air, so someone was either holding it, or it had left Crest, and used it?s energy to float. She slowed down, and crept through the mist. ?Oh no? she whispered. The being?s eyes were glowing gold, and it was hovering slightly above the ground. It was Crest. He hovered closer to Val, but she stepped back. As she did this, she tripped over some rocks.?Ha. You think you can run from me?? he said, triumphantly. ?You don?t scare me?? she murmured. ?What was that? Speak up!? shouted Crest.?I said-?Val was hit back by a beam that emitted from the Gene Orb. The last thing she saw was Crest?s eyes, above her.?Holy Crap? Robin blurted out, as he bolted upright. He was on the edge of Elade, almost in the Ocean of Farth. In fact, his feet were wet from being dragged in various small lakes and streams while being forced back by the Gene Blast. He quickly brought his feet out of the water, and brought himself up. His Invert was nearby. He ran and picked up the white blaster. A white haze was around where the blast had emitted, but he wasn?t focusing on that, unlike Val. He focused on a darkly shadowed being, hovering over a young girl. Robin aimed the Invert, and pulled the trigger. A white beam flew across Elade, hitting the being, and sending it flying. He dashed over to the girl, and as he got closer, he realized it was Val.Kris stood up. His mother needed tending to. But there were greater jobs at hand. Like the haze flowing around where the Gene Orb had blasted the three away. Two small golden lights shined brightly from inside. He ran towards it, dodging the various obstacles. As he got closer, he saw a dark being, and a smaller being. The dark one seemed to be ordering the smaller one to do something. He walked slowly inside. The small one was Val, and the dark one was Crest. He hid in the haze, afraid to appear from the shadows. Suddenly, a beam flew from the staff Crest was holding, and Val flew back a few meters. Crest soon followed swiftly. Then, faster than light, a bright white beam shot at Crest, and he was forced back to the other side of Elade. Kris decided now was the time to run to Val. He leaped out of the shadowy haze, and leant by Val.?Val!? he shouted. She moved a bit, and lifted her eyelids.?Kris?? she muttered. She lifted herself to sit up, with her hands.?What happened?? he asked.?Crest? he?s become too powerful. We need to get into hiding? Kris thought about it. He was being forced out of his hometown. Where he had lived for almost all his life. By a darkened person. But was Crest even a human being??Yes, we do. C?mon. Let?s hide in the haze and wait until Crest comes back. If he comes back, that is.? He finally replied. Robin parted some of the haze, and came over to Kris and Val.?Guys, I just saved your hides? he said, gasping.?No time for that, back into the haze? said Val.It was a small weak blast. A weak blast that had blown him back to the end of Elade?s borders. No ordinary Invert could do that. Crest decided that this ?Robin? needed to be dealt with. And fast. He hovered back into Central Elade, until he could view the haze. The staff started to glow violently, and he threw his arms into the air, casting movements with his arms. The clouds around Elade turned a dark shade of maroon, and started to circle Elade. A light barrage of bright glowing orbs rained down on top of the small village. He made sure the haze wasn?t effected, so he didn?t arouse suspicion. Any known survivors would now dissolve, and flow into the air. They would later join into the Gene Orb to use their energy. Crest would have even more power. Enough to destroy the Ocean of Farth. Or at least evaporate the waters inside it. Enough to create regional turmoil. He laughed, and started to advance towards the haze. They waited in the haze for what seemed like years. Finally, Kris decided to look around the Outer edge of the haze. He picked himself up, and strutted outside the haze.=====My story I haven't worked on in a while.
