Super Smash Bros. Brawl ? New Challengers Pit, Snake, Sonic and Wario enter the fray

Recommended Posts

GameTrailers.com has posted a new video featuring new characters to the new Wii sequel to the popular fighting game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They include, in part one, Pit, Snake, Sonic, and Wario.

Pit, the protagonist from the 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System side-scroller, Kid Icarus, comes to the game armed with a bow that shoots light arrows, and splits into two blades for hand-to-hand combat. You can use the Wiis control for the arrows trajectory.

Snake, aka Solid Snake, is one of the gaming world most beloved action heroes. Although he is more recognizable and popular with the Playstation Metal Gear Solid franchise, he first appeared in a NES console game Metal Gear in 1985, making him the only non-Nintendo character to participate in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He comes with an arsenal of weapons, and his special move is a high leap and blasting his opponents with a 12-shot grenade launcher. Snakes special stage is inspired from his Shadow Moses adventure complete with a rampaging Metal Gear mechsuit.

Sonic, the famous Sega mascot that ironically was Nintendos biggest rival back when he was first introduced in 1991, heads to the game with his signature moves such as the speed drill. When in contact with the Smash ball, he becomes Super Sonic and wipes out the competition.

Wario, who first appeared in Super Mario Land 2 for the Game boy and has appeared in various Mario Party and sports games as well as his own Wii game, heads to the battlefield with his toilet humor attacks, including his fart attacks. His stage is ripped out from his Wario Ware mini-games, and his special Smash Ball attack is transforming into Wario Man and flies to knock out his adversaries.

Look for Part 2 to debut in the next few days. But for right now, here is Part 1:

Parts 2 and 3 of the new challengers video on online at GameTrailers.com.

Part 2 features Kirby characters, villain King Dedede and Metaknight, Diddy Kong, and Pokemon Trainer

Dedede has Kirby's powers but is armed with a huge mallet, which is mechanized for Brawl to pound enemies. Metaknight is a supporting character with tornado and cloak attacks. His "Final Smash" move uses his cape to enlarge and strike his opponents to a dark vortex. His stage is his trademark battleship which players try to dodge cannon and missile fire, which is a top priority.

Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong's sidekick from Donkey Kong Country for the Ninetndo 64, is armed with a peanut peashooter. The gun charges up and when it explodes, it reveals an edible peanut to help restore his health. His "Final Smash" move is turning into a dual peanut-gun toting rocketeer who flies up and fires and his enemies with rapid fire peanut barrage. His stage is inspired from Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, a jungle stage which descents as players climb upwards to avoid death from below.

The Pokemon Trailer, known to North American fans as Ash Ketchum from the hit anime of the same name, enters the brawl with his Pokemon, Charizard, Squirrtle, and Ivysaur. The trainer can switch his Pokemon and use each of their special moves for strategic purposes. His "Final Smash" move is to order all three Pokemon to engage in a powerful triple attack. His stage is like the Pokemon stage from Super Smash Bros. Melee, but with added twists like converting into a ice and wind stage with powerful fans interfering with the gravity for the players.

Part 3 features Samus from Metroid in her "Zero Suit", and newcomers Olimar & Pikmin, Ike, and Lucas.

Samus, her new form, loses her power suit after performing her "Final Smash" move, revealing a more agile Samus in her Zero Suit. She uses her plasma gun to paralyze opponents, and the gun doubles as a plasma whip foe close quarters attacks and edge grabs.

Her new stages are inspired from Metroid Prime with a lava stage in which players find a capsule to enter for protection from the lava and close its doors, leaving opponents defenseless against the boiling lava. The second stage rotates 180 degrees leaving players to find new strategies.
