Posting To A Blog Via Email Using Pop3 Account error when trying to update blog

Recommended Posts

Hi Happy New Year everybody.

I'm trying to make use of this function in Wordpress - https://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_by_Email

It requires me to set up an email account with POP3 access and then refresh this page http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to display the email as a blogpost.

I have done the above steps, except that when I access the wp-mail.php file to get my blog refreshed, I get the following error messsage:

POP3 connect: Error [220-eta.xisto.com ESMTP Exim 4.68 #1 Tue, 01 Jan 2008 07:40:38 -0800 ]

Is this a technical error with the server or is it my blog setup?

FYI, the blog is installed on an addon domain, not my main domain that is hosted with CH, so the mail server is different from the domain the blog is located at. I don't know if this is also a cause of the error.

Thanks for any help.

The username for accessing the pop mail is your email address itself.I guess, you are trying to PIPE the messages in your mailbox into your Blog. You can achieve this by E-Mail piping using the EMAIL ALIAS function in CPanel->Mail.-Shree

Hi thanks for the reply.I used the email address as the username and the password as the password. The way it works is that the wp-mail.php will access the email account using the username and password and retrieve the message and then post it on the blog. But I don't quite get what you mean by piping the email with Cpanel. How do I do that? Thanks
