Galahad 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 So... Here's my rant...A month or two back, I created a screen name for AIM... I actualy have no idea why I did that, since I don't use AIM, don't have any friends using AIM, and so forth... I registered without problems... Then, I started receiving those annoying commercial emails from them, offering their services, their affiliate services, and so on... And on the bottom of the mail, there is opt-out link... I click it, and I get "Wooops" page... "Woooops, we didn't manage to unsubscribe you from out service" or something like that... I clicked like 1000 times, from different networks, and nothing... I'm not using AOL in any way... So, I decide to change my email in their records, to the one I rarely use... Guess what? I can't! They send you an email, to which you have to reply with an OK in the subject field... And so, I'm stuck with that bloody AOL and their spam... There is no mention of opt-out in any of their FAQ's. Helps, and other documents... I'm slowly becoming very pissed, and if I don't get it sorted soon... I dunno what I'll do... I'm not from US, don't use any AOL service... Don't hve the time, the nerves, nor the money for lawsuits... I guess I'll just post about their crappy service everywhere I can... I will dedicate a site that will expose their scam... Damn I hate those big corporations...
Saint_Michael 3 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 I would say spam block the aol messages for a few days and by then the spamm blocker will kick in and send all the AOL stuff to your spam folder.Well I did find something about the service and this is what they say. Currently, there is no way to unsubscribe from the AOLŽ Instant Messenger (AIMŽ) service. If you wish to discontinue using the AIM service, you can uninstall the AIMŽ software from your computer. So I go with my spam block method and see if that works at all.
