Why Geeks And Nerds Are Worth It...

Recommended Posts

In the wide world of dating, there are many options. Do you go for the flashy guy with the smooth smile, or the dude in the corner typing away on his laptop? The following are reasons why I think my fellow females should pay more attention to the quiet geeks and nerds, and less attention to the flashy boys.1.) While geeks and nerds may be awkward, theyre well-meaning 9 out of 10 times. That smooth dude with the sly grin and the spider hands? Wonder what HIS intentions are... plus, Ive never had a geek guy not call me when he said he would. Score major points THERE.2.) Theyre useful. In this tech-savvy world, its great to have a b/f who can make your laptop, desktop, and just about anything else that plugs into a wall behave itself.3.) Theyre more romantic than theyre given credit for. Ok true, their idea of romance might be to make up a spiffy web-page with all the reasons why they love you, with links to pics of you and sonnets and such... but hey. It lasts longer than flowers, plus you can show your friends.4.) Due to their neglected status, there are plenty to choose from. You like em tall and slender? There are plenty of geeks/nerds who are. You like em smaller with more meat on their bones? Got that too.5.) Theyve got brains. Come on now, how can intelligence be a bad thing?6.) Most are quite good at remembering dates. Like birthdates and such, especially if they know itll make you happy. Due again to their neglected status, theyre more attentive than guys who have more options. Plus, with all that down time without a steady girlfriend, theyll likely have mental lists of all the things theyd love to do once they GOT a girlfriend.7.) Sex. Yep. Sex. Im not really familiar with this myself, but Ive friends whove been intimate with geek guys and its raves all around. They say a virgin wrote the Kama Sutra... all that time thinking about sex, imagining sex, dreaming about sex, (they are male after all) coupled with a desire to make you happy? Use your imagination.8.) Theyre relatively low-maintenance. Most can be fueled on pizza, Twinkies and Mt Dew. No complicated dinners needed here, so if youre not the best cook, eh. Can you order a pizza?9.) Most frequent bars as often as slugs frequent salt mines. You wont have to worry much about your geek guy getting his groove on with club hotties because, frankly, hell be too busy rooting around under his computer wondering where that spare cable went. You wont have to worry about him flirting with other women because, 9 out of 10 times, hell zip right by them in a perfect b-line towards the nearest electronics store. Ive seen this happen.Me: Eww. Victoria Secrets Models... Theyre so skinny. How is that feminine? You can see her ribs!Geek Guy: ooooooo...Me: Hey! *notices he is staring lustfully towards the computer store*Geek Guy: What?Me: Never mind...10.) Although he may not want to go to every outing with you, you can arrange swaps, as in, youll go to his Gamer Con dressed as an elf princess if hell take you to the ballet. Plus, if he doesnt want to go someplace with you, you wont have to worry much about what hes up to. Youll probably come home to find him asleep on his keyboard in a sea of Mt. Dew cans with code blinking from the screen. Its ok. Hes used to this. Just toss a blanket over him and turn out the light.11.) His friends arent jerks. I cant stress this enough. Youll more likely get Omg! A GIRL!! Can I see?! than Hey hot stuff back that *bottom* up here and let me get some grub on... Theyre awkward geeks too and will, 9 times out of 10, treat you with the utmost respect and, more than likely, a note of awe. A cute girl picked one of their clan to date? It could happen to them! Hope! Drag some of your single girlfriends over, open up a pack of Mt. Dew, crack open the DnD set and get working. Nothing impresses geek guys more than a girl who can hack-n-slash (well ok maybe if she can code... a geek can dream).12.) Theyre rarely if ever possessive. They trust you, so you can be yourself around them. You like to walk around the house in a ratty t-shirt for comfort? He wont care. He does too! They wont get pissy if you dont wear make-up or dont want to bother primping your hair. If you gain a few pounds, they wont try their best to make you feel like crap.13.) Theyre usually very well educated. Physics majors and the like. See #5. You wont have to listen to him blathering on about his car (ok maybe a little), hell have loads of other interesting things to talk about. Politics, world events, how much the chicken burgers down at the local place rock, so long as you douse them in hot sauce...14.) Youll almost never have to hear, Yaw dawg whazzap!! plop out of their mouths. Unless its in jest. They spell properly, use correct punctuation, and are able to tell the difference between the toilet and the floor. They almost never get wasted, so you wont have to worry about coming home to find him and his friends passed out on the floor amidst a pile of beer bottles. Mt. Dew cans, perhaps...15.) And the final reason why geeks and nerds make great boyfriends: They actually give a damn about you. Not how you look (though thats a plus), not how skinny you are, not how much make-up you primp yourself up with, but they like you for you. That kind of thing lasts longer than DaMN baby you got a fine *bottom*!!! Believe me.

lol, it's funny that this is under jokes. Anyways, I can relate to the nerdy type so this kind of makes me feel better, except for all of the "due to their neglected status". That's a good article and brings up many good points. The reason most people don't like nerds is because they simple aren't attractive. No "cool" girl wants to go out with an ugly guy. Nerds and geeks seem to eventually meet someone and are usually very happy with them, unlike the cool kids that might see a divorce in their future. I guess what I'm trying to say is geeks and nerds know how to pick out someone who they feel is right for them, the people that see all of the above in them. I don't think geeks and nerds really want to go out with the popular kids, rather be off with some other girl more fit. They see different things in girls like brains over brawn. Thanks for trying to get us more dates lol.

Hey nice points. The choosing of cool guys and nerds also depend on the type of girl. A popular girl would have to have a popular boyfriend (in the most of cases) The cool guys have more options to choose (if you know what i mean  many girls would be wanting to date him) so if one of those guys date a girl, he wont take her real serious, or he really wont care about what the girl thinks, he can always date another and another, etc... but the girl do the same.. so thats what make them feel good anyway.. while the nerds or geeks, if they would have a popular girlfriend, they would feel so unconfortable and nervous while being with her... dont know what to talk about, and all of that. So they prefer to be with a girl that would be with them talking with confidence and pass a better time.

Thats what makes popular groups being separated of the ''unadapted'' (or something like that) groups, i think thats what makes the things easier.

5.) Theyve got brains. Come on now, how can intelligence be a bad thing?

Damn you are so right  i cant understand why people say that makes the nerds being the wrong type of people XD Edited by MIGUE2k7 (see edit history)

Rofl... I like this topic. Though I'm not a super nerd/geek, I admit I tend to... stray towards that. =o I do agree, though. I'm homeschooled, very into the computer and all. But I go to seminary at our local high school. And all these sports jocks are so.... slow. They talk slow, read slow, think slow, etc.. Not dissing on anyone, but that's what you get when you skip half your school for football. =\

I had some good laughs here reading this topic xD good points though, but I won't convince any girl to read this and tell me what she thinks, they would stop reading before the 1? comes xD and I can't tell what I think because, damn I'm not a girl :blink:but one thing I can tell you: I dunno if I would approach a nerd/geeky girl (there are few of them, ok but they do exist, I know one)

Hah nice topic / points here.I'm not saying i'm the biggest "geek" in town (though some say... cause' they do for no reason and hate me for no reason) but a LITTLE much on the pc - well who aren't.You brought up lots of good points here, and you never know the intention of those "sleezy" people, who looks far too confident hanging on the corner. I don't have PROOF - But my NotSoGeek Senses tell me they're out for nothing but a "one night stand" :)Get a (almost) geek - Be happy :XD:
