I can see the attraction of making them, as they seem fairly fun to make. Worryingly I can also see the attraction of spreading it, but I doubt I would ever do that. However I doubt I could ever spread a virus if I got round to making it, as I would feel guilty about the people it affected.

Virus is a software program created by experts to cause problem to the computers.mostly it attacks on the operating system like windows or linux or mac however there are some viruses which affect the harddrives printers and other hardware stuff.to protect the computer from viruses one should try going to secure websites and opening email with attachment which you think is from a trusted source.

The short answer is now, but there are some that can disable your software from reading or making changes to hardware. But mostl viruses are designed by script kiddies and do annoying things like email them selves 5000 times and clog mail servers. The worse part is when a virus zombies your computer and then allows folks to use it for a lot of bad things from piracy, to DDOS attacks, to a kiddie porn server. It really suck if someone did that to you and the authorities come blasting down your door.

Actually there are viruses that can damage hardware. There is already a topic talking about this, I'll try to find it.Just to let you gets know, I won't say there aren't ANY viruses for mac/linux, but there aren't MANY. There are only a couple and they usually come through iPods and such. Easily detectable btw. No one makes viruses for macs because they figure we've suffered enough already.

Some viruses make the CPU run too fast, and then make sudden stops. This not only hurts your CPU, but it also hurts your hard drive and your fan.

technically, a virus is a software creation created in C, C+ and C++ language, and is a program that accesses your msdos and exploits your operating system, and/or virus software running on your pc. it doesnt affect physical objects tho, but it will go hitler on whatever software that piece of hardware uses.

Virus's change things in your computer that cause bad things to happen. Those who know the computer well can find things to hurt your computer. Just get AVG at http://www.avg.com/de-de/free-antivirus-download It'll keep those nasty virus's from hurting your precious computer. Also, get spyware protection. ex. Ad-Aware SE Personal I swear, if I didn't get those programs, my computer would be so slow or in need a repair, which, I do not have the money for. So, get those free antivirus's and spyware removal programs!

I have heard about computer viruses destroying hardware. Thanks god it didn't happen to me... I only heard about viruses damaging the hard drive by spinning it too fast (I wonder even if that is possible)... Some could say viruses destroying hardware has become an urban myth. The Myth Busters should try it...

By the way... the only way you be 99.99% sure you won't get a virus is of course by installing Linux. As far as I have heard there are only a few viruses for Linux and most of them are lab made (testing purpose).
