Syd Barret Rip Shine on you crazy diamond

Pink Floyd founder Syd Barret has died at the age of 60 at his home in cambrisgeshire.

From my limited knowledge, Syd was the founder of Pink Floyd, and lead singer until he ledt just before the bands fame went worldwide, even as a star he lived in his parent's basement, he boreded up the windows to keep the fans and press from looking in, after he left the band he recorded 2 solo albums.


In the album "wish you were hear", Floyd recorded a song named "shine on you crazy diamond", which is widely considered to have been a tribute to Syd.

The band issued a statement:

"The band are naturally very upset and sad to learn of Syd Barrett's death. Syd was the guiding light of the early band line-up and leaves a legacy which continues to inspire."

Barret was famed for his experiments with the guitar, including the successful slide and echo effects, and less successful techniques like strumming his guitar with te teeth of is lighter.



Barret as been described as a kid who wrote a song and played a bit of guitar, but he is a true inspiration to many.

So the message to Syd, frrom millions of Floyd fans all over the world, Shine on you crazy diamond.
