Vdsl Boardband Connection Download Speed Only 300kb, Is This Right?

hi, I have a 10Mbp boardband internet connection that the download speed only 300KB and upload speed with 600KB, is this true? Everytime I test the speed, I got the same result. Any advice are welcome.Thank you

Thats about accurate. You can't actually know the exact speed. Can you?

Looks strage normal is the download higher (or at least equal) then the upload speed.
I guess the the 10Mb is the speed of your ethernet interface.
In Belgium the Speed is limited to 9 Mbit/s

You can losse a lot of speed when you are using a wrong MTU (Maximun transmission Unit)
With ADSL is this 1492 Byte , while the ethernet default is 1500 Byte.
So each pakket will be send in 2 pieces , with 2 headers, ...

You can change your MTU and so with TCP optimizer http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php
In the window there is a site you can ping to determine the highest MTU you could use.
Ping to https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl and look when the pakkets gets fragmented.

Then you have some rules the recalculate the speed to KB/s

You have also the differce between bits/s and Byte/s (this is a factor 8)
and then you have 1 MB = 1024KB

So 10 Mbit/s = 1,25 MB/s = 1280 KB/s

hi, kdr_98, the web site provided is very helpfull, Thank you since my ISP made some change. So, I have my net connection faster now. For download, 600KB, for upload, 700KB. waiting for more improvement.
