Justin S. 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2006 Thats about accurate. You can't actually know the exact speed. Can you?
kdr_98 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2006 Looks strage normal is the download higher (or at least equal) then the upload speed.I guess the the 10Mb is the speed of your ethernet interface. In Belgium the Speed is limited to 9 Mbit/s You can losse a lot of speed when you are using a wrong MTU (Maximun transmission Unit)With ADSL is this 1492 Byte , while the ethernet default is 1500 Byte.So each pakket will be send in 2 pieces , with 2 headers, ... You can change your MTU and so with TCP optimizer http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.phpIn the window there is a site you can ping to determine the highest MTU you could use.Ping to https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl and look when the pakkets gets fragmented. Then you have some rules the recalculate the speed to KB/sYou have also the differce between bits/s and Byte/s (this is a factor 8)and then you have 1 MB = 1024KBSo 10 Mbit/s = 1,25 MB/s = 1280 KB/s
