gameratheart 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 Is it legal to name a doamain to include in it some trademarked name?Let's say 'honda-drive-test.com' or 'why-Xisto-rocks.com' ?It all depends on how the name is used, and what the trademark is for. For your examples, the first URL, "honda-drive-test.com", would be illegal, firstly because Honda is a registered car company, and secondly, because it makes it sound like it is a website owned by Honda.Usually it is illegial, but really it only is if the site URL can confuse a person into thinking that the site is officially owned by the owner of the trademark. That is why Microsoft recently had to sue an anonymous company, and why your second site, "why-Xisto-rocks.com", probably wouldn't be illegal.
