David789 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 I would say that php nuke and e107 are the best.
Dragonfly 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 It seems like I've seen something like this topic elsewhere in the forum. But couldn't locate it. If I am asked to choose among the three I would definitely go for postnuke. Firstly, copyright notice at the footer. As long as the source code remains postnuke won't complaint whereas php-nuke will sue you for anything untill your last breathe... If php-nuke allows everyone to remove the footer it would have give a very stiff competition to postnuke (at least according to me). Secondly, I like PNphpBB forum... it is one of the best upgraded or featured or called it modified phpBB. The functions and features are just great. Forum makes up the site these days. A good forum, feel and look can make much difference to the overall impression of the site itself.Thirdly, e107 isn't attractive to me because designs are not that appealing. The main menu item which can collapse is the only difference from other cms, the rest are more or less the same. BTW out of three you have chosen two as the best... what about others like mambo, xoops, typo, phpwebsite, etc?
Unregistered 015 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 I vote phpnuke but I also think mambo is much better!
David789 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 Mambo is rubbish. My old site used it and it was terrible. BTW out of three you have chosen two as the best... what about others like mambo, xoops, typo, phpwebsite, etc? Never heard of the other stuff.
RemoteConnection 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 well, as security and as itt's support , themes, languages, hot fixes , blocks, modules, I say phpnuke is the best to choose ....
Dynomite 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 Mambo owns all, it is the best one out there, php-nuke is a haven for exploits just like phpBB is. Post Nuke is really crappy when it comes to navigation and management, even though I voted for it I don't really like it, and I can't comment on e107, because I haven't seen or tried it, but I've heard it's pretty good. Yipster 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 I personally prefer Nuke. I am currently helping out moderating a phpnuke help forums. So if you need some help drop by here I've seen a lot of posts there and no exploits. But there were some cases where admin passwords were hacked. They were basically brute forced easily because they were short passwords. Anyways, Dynomite, everything has exploits nothing is perfect or secure. It seems Nuke has a lot of exploits because it more popular than others. Therefore, it code is seen by more people, and its a perfect target for "hackers". A good example of this would be Mac and Windows. All you ever hear about is exploits in Windows, and hardly ever in Mac. Why? It is because the majority of the market is Windows.Wow, that was a rant, don't mind me. Just defending Nuke.

machinamedia 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 I would say e107. I used it some time ago for a linux portal and it worked perfectly. I also saw a lot of portals built using phpnuke and they look awesome...cheers!
David789 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2005 If i can get hosting by trap 17 that is what i am going to use. My old site used php nuke, but it was way too hard to install.
Steve 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2005 I think PHP Nuke might be the best web development CMS ever. It is so advanced but why didnt PHP nuke make some bond with IPB or VB instead of cheaping out and going with the free phpbb. If it figured somehting out with IPB, that would be awesome. But now most of you know about IB2nuke.com. Where you can add PHP nuke to IPB 2.0 or IPB 1.3 to PHP Nuke.
wariorpk 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2005 I have only used phpnuke so I will say that is the best. I really don't like using portals that much though, I rather have a website with an unintigrated forum.
