ok what are these people thinking first they made exact copies of the flu strain and now they want to distribute it to research labs across america for what find the cure for the flu, you have to be kidding me, that has to be one of the stupidest things someone can do. All it takes is for it to alter and go airborne and we will be really screwed.

the 1918 flu killed millions of people across the world and it was destroyed now morons like this bring it back to study, I hope they get infected with it that will let them know how stupid it is to regrow a deadly flu virus strain.

Okay, that is just scary.... and frankly, pretty stupid in my mind. Yea, lets risk the deadly strains getting out and killing more people, so we might be able to find a cure for a DIFFERENT strain? Huh? I'm no medical person... but this sounds like faulty logic to me. Why don't they just use samples of the flu that is already going around? Or would that just seem to simple to be effective?

yeah, if you want to know about virus testing on us people just google the phrase "chem trails". it'll make you think (if not forever look into the sky). It isn't just the anthrax shot (I got mine right after scrambled eggs). No joke though I actually had an anthrax shot in the military and then worked in a small town post office that had more than two anthrax "infected" items of mail pass through it (in 2004). Hey just letting you know that google is a mans best friend, dogs are just cool.

Actually, that happens all the time, with many virus. You see, most labs just don't have the capability to be able to analyze every virus to detail. There is just not enough stuff. This particularly happens with a small lab discovers a disease of sorts, but doesn't have the technology to analyze it.There are many safeguard to make sure it doesn't go wild. Lots of safeguards. The article also has it written that it does.

I agree with you for one..imagine what would happen if those vials of the viruses were hijacked by terrorists and mass produced for Weapons of mass destruction? The health authorities aren't that stupid not to put safeguards for transporting the virus you know for all you know they might have armed escorts or strict travel guidelines for any transport which is transporting the virus

Then again think about how science and modern medical technology has shaped the world ... Finding the cure for the bird flu strain or vaccine for it would mean that the 1918 flu would not happen again millions wouldn't die so this movement is neccesary to prevent more from dying from this disease.

With such a dangerous strand of virus, I am pretty certain that adequate preventive measures are in proper place. And of course, as new things are being research, I am sure some good medicinal or at least knowledge should arises.Of course, there's always that "risk, " but what in life doesn't carry some sorts of risk with it.No risks, no reward. It's a statement from one of Jet Li's movie i think.

I'm all for finding a cure of a horrible virus, but if it is infact extinct, shouldnt we be finding cures for the stuff that's killing millions already? I dunno... like, cancer? As long as they focus on the most important stuff then by all means, go ahead and find the cure for an "extinct disease", just don't get that disease on me.
