Instructions for using Sony DCR-DVD203EWay of recording to Mini DVD in different formatsExplanations of some terms:Formating DVD ? means dekete all informartions on DVD (all pictures and movies,not possible by DVD-R format),enables to reuse DVD-RW,not possible by DVD-RFinalizing DVD ? means packing movies and pictures on DVD for furter watching on DVD-Player (possible just by DVD-RW in Video Mode),for more recorded material you need more time for this process of finalizingUnfinilazing or unpacking ? means recording on DVD with presence of free memory space,but the clue is that it was finalized in previous steps (you can do this just by DVD-RW in Video-Mode) Specifications for various formats:DVD-R Its possible to record movies and pictures just once,you cant delete,if you want to watch recorded material on DVD-player you have to finalize the disk,you cant unfinalize DVD after process of finalizing,you have the option to create DVD-Menu,you cant record aditional movies or pictures after finalizing DVD although you have free memory space left on DVD.DVD-RW format is write/delete format,divided in two ways of recording:Video and VR-ModeDVD-RW Video-ModeIts possible to record movies and pictures,you can delete ONLY last recorded scene,watch movies just after process of finalizing DVD,if l+you have some free memory space left you have to Unfinalize DVD.There is option of creating DVD-Menu,you can format DVD and reuse it on this way,you can watch movies on your computer on DVD that hasnt been finalizedDVD-RW VR-ModeYou can record movies and take photos,but in this format its possible to delete any recorded scene or picture.You have to finalize DVD after process of formating,if you want to watch recorded material on your computer using one of your player aplications,and this is the most important step,because Sony camcorder DVD-writer has to mark your DVD with name/label used to recognize DVD on your computer.This process last about 10 or more minutes if you start this step with empty DVD,and tip of day is to do this if you have almost a full recorded DVD,beacuse this process will take only 3 minutes in this case.You can watch movies using PowerDVD 6 without new process of finalizing DVD,its possible to watch movies and pictures on your computer beacuse this programe shows every single recorded scene as single movie.You cant finalize this DVD-format,and if you have some free memory left on your DVD you DONT have to unfinalize DVD,but you can format DVD and reuse it as new,empty.You cant create DVD-menu.I hope this little topic is help to all new users of this nice camcorder.If there is something unclear about it,contact me,maybe i can resolve problem.Sorry for mistakes,report them.I would like to hear something about DVD+RW format,beacause I couldnt get this mini DVD anywhere.If someone is interested how it works to choose between different modes,formats in process of recording...report!i will continue to write about it Thx for reading
