Recommended Posts

I think that the CMS sistems are revolutions in internet design because It new been so ease to make your site but that poverful. But almaoust all CMS are most bugy but there are free and that is the price that you must pay.I think that the besti is Xoops but the POStnuke and PHPnuke are also great. All three works only on linuks/unix.There are powerfull but you must now something about MSsql and PHP to be able to works with this powerful systems. Has someone difren opinion?

I believe you are right, im beggining to get into this cms mania and im finding it great. The one that got me into all this, and was as easy as hell to learn, was wordpress but this is focused on blogging sites.Ive posted a few topics about cms, and the ones that pop up always as the best are mambo, joomla, xoops, and php nuke... But im having troubles to fully understand how they work to get my template done. There are several forums @ each of those cms homepages, you can find more info about those there.A few days ago i asked a particulary issue about cms, i was wandering which of todays most advanced cms were actually standard compliant, with xhtml and css for instance, and tyssen suggested me a few, but two of them, you have to pay for using them... So what i found in my personal experience is that joomla is not currently accesible nor standard. But wordpress and mambo are, i try the skin myself with the validator and it is valid xhtml transitional. I really love wordpress and the new beta wordpress multiuser that is avaible for download now seems really great and very promising. Ive found really cool templates that are valid and with great design. Im just loving all this cms thing, its really getting things easy for webmasters and non-technical website administrators and users in general, its awesome.Cheers...

well, i am biast, as i use Mambo/Joomla, but i see it as the best.It is easy to install, it offers plenty of modules and features and flexibility.yes its true you will need a good knowledge of PHP and CSS if your going to create a template from scratch. But what i'm doing is taking existing templates and modifying them alot. . . . And i dont know alot about php, and have a basic udnerstand of CSS.Like said above, the forums of all the major CMS's have plenty of info and help available. I would not recommend php nuke or post nuke if you want to create and interetsign looking wbesite. . . . as they all tend to have the same layout. . .

I don't like CMS's because they take away the actual skill needed to make a good website. And i believe that CMS's, since used by many people, can have more vulnerabilities than a normal site. On the other hand, CMS does make it easier to make a nice looking site easily.

I think it all comes down to how much time and creativity you want to put into a website - as well as the purpose in making your website. Many company websites I've seen usually is based on a CMS system...that's why a lot of them look similar to one another. Personal sites, on the other hand, can allow you to try your coding skills and tweak whatever is need to make the website attractive.
