Got Virus Or Other Annoying Spyware Here is one link I think can help you

Recommended Posts

That tool is a fairly recent addition to the wide field of virus and spyware removal. One such service that is great for removing spyware is SpyBot Search and Destroy. In my experience this program can remove almost any spyware within your system. Another program which is great is AVG antivirus program. Its made by a company called Grisoft, and has a free edition that is almost as good as the paid service.

I have found a great tool that removes mostly annoying Viruses and spyware

Microsoft releases an updated version of this tool on the second Tuesday of each month, and as needed to respond to security incidents. You can run the tool from that Web page anytime or download it to your computer.

Spybot S&D does the job well enough for me. Since Adwares, etc. are pretty sneaky, it's best to keep yourself protected by getting the most you can. However, it's all up to your discretion about which sites you should go to, etc. Since I hardly surf the web, because I spend too much time on IRC channels and in Photoshop, I'd have to say one is good enough for me~! Thanks for the link, though. I think I've seen that one by Microsoft before but I was too lazy to try it since Spybot does the job for me.

If any of you still use a host like hotmail or yahoo...I'd suggest that you immedeatly switch to gmail...If you get spam in your normal inbox, you can select it and mark it as spam. Then, whenever email from the same domain comes to your mail it gets put into the spam folder...Really nice ability I'd say...Then you spam folder gets filled up...

Did I miss something in this topic that has something to do with emails???Anyways, I find that Spybot S & D is one of the best anti-spyware programs. I use Spybot S & D and Ad-Aware.As for Antivirus programs, I use Norton (Hate it but can't get rid of it) and occasionally, I would use McAfee.

I agree with the others here that Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware are the two best programs to protect yourself against spyware. I'm trying out Microsoft Anti-Spyware and so far it seems to be OK too.

Formatting the HDD just to get rid of malware? Ouch! >_< Seems a little extreme, but there have been times in the past when I've had to do that. Even the most careful precautions won't totally save one from malware, I'm afraid.

For myself, I try my best to keep my PC clean. I'm not as paranoid as some, but I come close. For one thing I absolutely forbid any sort of file-sharing program to be installed. Those things are like virus motels. ^^ For a browser, I use Mozilla's Firefox with the Adblock, Flashblock, and NoScript extensions. I use a firewall (Microsoft). I also have AVG-Free Antivirus, Spybot S&D, and Lavasoft's Ad-Aware, all which generally do a good job of keeping my system clean. And for the really tough stuff, I use HijackThis (which one shouldn't use unless one knows what their doing!). As a last resort, I always have System Restore. =^^=

If there's anything else that all that doesn't catch, then there's always Google. =^^=

They say 'preventition is better then a cure.' I(t's a true fact, in most term. It is also true for computer, spyware and the like.

The first step to have good surfing habits, that will allow you to avoid spyware altogether. Sites like some porn site, hacking. Most of the underground stuff may be dangerous for people who have little or no knowledge in spyware and threats to a computer. A person should not be touching any of those website. And if they did, God bless them.

As well as that, having a good set of software to actually block such viruses from coming to your computer. I saw the Microsoft software, being mentioned, as well as Spybot Search and Destory. There is also Ad-aware from Lavasoft, which you can find by googling it yourselves.

What to do if something does get into your computer

Well, if you have the software installed on your computer, you can use that to scan you hard drives. You can install other software, but its not recommended, because the virus could detect the software getting installed, and attempt to prevent it. If you were foolish enough to leave youself without any virus software, you can use Trend Housecall, which is an online checker. You can google that as well.

Now, if you can't get onto the internet, then I'm afarid you might be out of options. Some anti-virus software actually scan your drive before installation, but it's usually out-dated. Your only option might be to format your computer.
