well its a free program that allows you to create games but you gotta be good at graphics or if your using the rtp(run time package) then your fine but alot of the graphics you gotta make. But if your creating your first game use the rtp its saves alot of time don't make a dbz game because your a noob when you first start im making a dbz but i have years of experiance at this program.it takes around 2 months to learn.if you want the download post and i'll post it here.

its doesnt take 2 months to learnif it does for you, your kinda dumb :( anyway its not a language, its just a bunch of events you usesuch as in the map editors of StarCraft and Warcraftlittle example:when hero touches event (cuz events are placed on the map)start battle (against a monster or boss)its pretty simple and very customizablei suggest trying it out if your a fan of rpgstry http://www.gamingw.net/
there is a TON of rpg maker 2000 and 2003 stuff theretry 2000 first to get use to it and if you like it get 2003i believe there both free

I've been looking into it a lot lately and I don't think it lets you make online games. Maybe I'm wrong though? It does look pretty cool though. When I have some time, I'll try it out.

I've used RPGMaker since it came out, and I've made a few games. When I started (13 years old), it took me about a year to master completely. To someone with previous programming experience it'd probably be a cinch though. I really recommend it. Even though I've learned other languages, I still love using RPGMaker 2003. It's a great way to make a classic looking console-style RPG. So fun!Because RPG2K and RPG2K3 are so easy to use (no scripting language to learn), their also limited in what they can do. This means you have to get pretty creative if you want a different battle system than the prepackaged one thats included. However, this year RPGMaker XP came out, and it has an optional scripting language built in.I highly recommend these makers. If you too lazy to learn how to use them, then you have no business making a game. They are very easy =) .And no, it is not a web RPG maker.

I have a few things I would like to say. First off you don't need any 'language' unless you want to edit the games engine itself(for rpg maker xp) Secondly, there is an online rpg maker for mmorpgs but there are only wo of them: the old one sucks and you have to buy your own server because no one hosts the games any more!!!! The new one is still under development and if I find the link then I will post it. Third the maker doesn'ttake any time to learn because you can make a game in like 30 minutes but it will suck cuz yer a noob so you have to practice alot to make a good game. I have a development team know as [Tri_Ware] Corp. If you would like to learn rpg maker and/orjoin my team then visit the site on my signature I am currently uploading my site to Xisto.com and the downloads for the rpgmakers will be available. Until then just sign up on my forums(also located in my signature)

Hey. This is another third of tri_ware speaking.

There are tons of sites to get it
1) http://www.rmdownloads.com/
(you need flash for that site)
2) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
3) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

and also, though Tseng dosn't know this, there is a way to create a MMORPG (massivly multiplayer online RPG) using Visual basic if you have it.(I do, and I plan on creating a game soon.)

Walkthrough on how to:

have fun all you noobs!

I downloaded RPG Maker 2k3 last night, ironic that I'd see this topic right after too. Its ok for starting out I guess, not hard to understand at all, for me atleast.I'll probably work more on it later on and see how it comes out.
