Trystim 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2005 I know there are a bunch of cms's out there such as zentri, mambo etc etc. What I am asking is how to code out your own CMS to fit into a layout that you have designed yourself. For example right now I am working on a layout I have the layout completed with what I want it to look like.lets say at the top as normal there is a banner showing the site you have came to visit. On the left hand side of the page is a Main Site Navigation section and under that is Affiliates/links to outside sites. From the center of the page and to the right of it is the view of the link you clicked from the main navigation section. At the bottom is 3 smaller boxes with shall we say for example News for the site, Hits/Visits and Maybe the copyright in the far right bottom.Hopefully enough detail has been given to where you can grasp a layout in your mind now. If not once i get positive credits again I will upload it.Now How would I go about keeping the news section updated without installing Mambo or any of those others. I want to keep my layout that i have redesigned to my specifications. I looked at mambo and such but none of them actually give me the ability to use my own layout physically. If anyone is willing to help in this matter and you need access to my site I will gladly set you up an account to log in and such just pm me or send me an email hjscholl@gmail.com I have no quams what-so-ever if someone is willing to help code a backend for the site I guess you could say. Any links you could provide me with being able to do this on my own is also a help. I have tried different things...and unfortunately haven't yet been able to figure out how to use an IFrame effectively. I know everyone here well not everyone but a good portion of the members here are far more backend coding experienced then I am and I am always willing to listen and learn what someone wants to tell me as long as it is intelligible and not directed with a pompous attitude like i get from other people that I have asked about this type of stuff before.I look forward to talking to anyone and everyone who is willing to give me some help. I also have MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and ICQ via Trillian of which i will give truly interested people who contact me the information for any/all of those to talk with me outside of the site here.Again Thank you all from a humbled web/graphic designer in the making.Trystim. snlildude87 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2005 (edited) I use Nucleus for my blog, but it's still a CMS. The best thing I like about Nucleus is that you can customise the skins and templates to fit your design that you have made. It may be a blog, but you can easily make it a CMS if you wish. The best thing about Nucleus is that it's free, so you can download the software and try it out on your Xisto site!If you decide to start using Nucleus, feel free to PM me, and I'll show you how to set it up. Good luck!Edit: Fixed my BBCode Edited May 1, 2005 by snlildude87 (see edit history)
