Do you see this bill to get passed, not passed forever or just continue with the constant bickering over this issue amonst political parties to go on forever? Before saying anything in favour or against this issue we need to review our own opinion on the very term "Reservation ". This term isn't a very positive one when it comes about selection for a position bearing significant value. As reservation limits the choice of candidates within the fixed quota. And that holds true for any selection/elimination procedure .Be it selection for Joint Entrance Examination, be it for employment in Government services or be it for political candidature which decides the fate of millions. But then why resrvation is still allowed in a system? To some extent it is definitely needed In a country like India where marginalisation of people on the basis of caste, creed, sex and religion was practiced for years and till today we can't deny the fact that it has been eradicated truly from the system and independence to every community is bestowed in a full fledged manner. So to undo the act of retarding the growth of such a huge proportion of population in the last couple of decades, we are deemed to bring in a procedure wherein we can give people belonging to those communities a chance and in the process accelerate the progress of society as a whole. When it comes pin-pointedly about women's rights, we definitely belong to that proportion of population which constitutes almost half of entire population of any country/ region. But history reveals irrespective of any class, caste, religion or any other sort of divisions the basic rights of a woman had always been thrashed and ignored.Crossing every Barrier of human community woman's rights are always put to a big interrogation mark. No matter to what class she belongs to she is always put under a scanner and her every single move is bound to get questioned. So if our system can accept reservation on the basis of religion, caste so can it accept on the basis of sex too. As far as voting a woman by another woman comes under question 2 ideologies do come in cosideration:- 1) Identity politics - Here comes choosing someone on the basis of faith.Like when a labourer woman is voting for a woman who is a powerful business woman. So its simply based on trust that the woman who might have never in her lifetime witnessed the hardships a woman of labourer class has faced will understand and act as needed. 2) Politics of Mirror representation - The second one is entirely antagonistic of the above ideology wherein a woman of labourer class has no more faith on someone who had seen only lavish lifestyle and had never faced circumstances of a common woman. So she decides to vote for a candidate who can well represent her situation and is a true mirror reflection of what she is. In whatever way a woman gets elected, there will always be an inner understanding of what a woman can face in her day to day life. That will help in introducing laws favourable for woman upliftment as a whole. As far as the quality of candidate is concerned, we already in our country have enough instances of efficient woman politicians coming from every nook and corner of our country and belonging to varied social and economic background.
