Yeah i've heard of GarageBand, and my friends are raving about it too. I've tried Audacity, but i never really got to explore it much.GarageBand is one of the best out there, but as far as I know, it is Mac only (unless you emulate OS X). For mixing and such, Audacity is great. It is free/open source, and very easy to use. I would sugest having over 1GB RAM for both programs, as they are both memory hogs (as are most audio/video programs).

I like Adobe Photoshop CS4. Been trying Macromedia Dreamweaver, for my sites, but still trying to get the hang of it. Thank God there are lots of awesome tutorials out there. And learning flash as well... Was testing Macromedia Flash but a lot of the tutorials use Adobe Flash.Would you have any idea if there's much difference in the flash softwares between Macromedia and Adoba?
